<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Isiah Thomas is committed to revamping the Knicks' roster by the Feb. 23 trading deadline and is considering making a bid for Denver power forward Kenyon Martin. According to a league source, the Nuggets are shopping Martin, who will earn $65 million through the 2010 season. Denver has also contacted Chicago about Martin, whose contract and medical history will prevent more teams from pursuing him. Martin, acquired in a sign-and-trade from the Nets two summers ago, has been slowed by knee and back problems this season. Thomas has two weeks to trade Penny Hardaway's expiring contract and has been in conversations with the Nuggets about point guard Earl Watson. According to published reports, the Knicks, Nuggets and Magic are discussing a deal that would bring Watson to New York and send Jamal Crawford to Orlando. If the Knicks try to acquire both Martin and Watson, Denver may ask for rookie Channing Frye in return. Up to this point, Thomas has sent word that he does not want to trade any of his three rookies. ... Qyntel Woods agreed to a settlement worth just under $700,000 with Portland, his former team. Woods was terminated by the Blazers in January 2005, after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of animal abuse following an investigation into allegations of dog-fighting. He had signed a one-year deal with the Blazers for $1.1 million and had filed a grievance, charging that he had been unfairly terminated. He was scheduled for a hearing this week.</div> New York Daily News We all know Kenyon Martin back when he was a Net, but at this point and time we'll be better off not acquiring him. He's 28, has injury problems, and is earning $65 million throughout 2010! He's pretty expensive for what he's worth. He's also underacheived since coming to Denver. I say pass on Martin and let's try to get someone better.
isaih trading for an injury prone, over paid, under achieving power forward? i can see that happening. its not like the money matters or anything
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Buckets:</div><div class="quote_post">IF it involves giving Channing Frye I am against it, if not, Why Not go after Kenyon Martin?</div> Why not??? The fact that he's one of the most overrated and overpaid players in the NBA isnt enough? His offensive arsenal is composed of running the floor and dunking. When he's not in an uptempo offense with a great pass first point guard he isnt a very effective player. The thing that he'd help the Knicks with most is rebounding which we can put David Lee in for and defense and his defense doesnt warrant the amount of money he's making. Let's also not forget his injury problems. We can probably get someone better for half as much. Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.

I don't agree that he's underachieving, but he does need to be spoon fed the ball because of the lack of his offensive skill set. The Knicks don't have that floor general that can push it and feed it too him regularly. Look what happened when his distributor changed from Kidd to Miller. Miller's a great pass-first PG, but Martin still struggles in Denver. This would destroy the cap situation even further, but as we all know, Isiah couldn't care less. It was a stupid move bringing in Rose, and bringing in Martin would make me forget the 2 or 3 "good" things that Isiah's done for the team. With all the transactions he's made in his stay so far, the team's just gotten worse, and now the team's screwed for the future as well. Isiah's destroyed the franchise. Plain and simple.
Well Martin is a great defender, inconsistant offensive player...but eh, I don't know. Its one of those moves you ask yourself (Will this really help us?)
kenyon martin is the next chris webber IMO. just a couple of more injuries onto his knee, he will be playing on one leg. just like webber.

They might as well take chances and hope that something eventually works out. Like giftedvisionz, their future is screwed.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Isiah Thomas is willing to take on Kenyon Martin, his bad knees and his bad contract, but not if it means giving up Channing Frye. According to a league source, the Knicks have offered Penny Hardaway's expiring contract to Denver plus another player. The Knicks may be forced to part with rookie David Lee, but they insist on not giving up Frye. "It seems like everyone wants Frye," said one GM. "I think that's why the Knicks are going to keep him. Denver is working on several deals, including a trade for Orlando's Steve Francis. But in order to get Francis, the Nuggets want to rid themselves of Martin's contract, which calls for him to make $65 million over the next four years. With Carmelo Anthony looming as a restricted free agent, the Nuggets are reluctant to go over the luxury tax threshold in the future.</div> http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/391251p-331880c.html Isiah has no business trading David Lee for Kenyon Martin. Penny and Ariza/Butler should be good enough, but leave our rookies alone. If we get Martin for Penny straight up, the Nuggets are bound to struggle and we have their pick. So, that might work out.
