<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Samuel Dalembert said it is too early to make a commitment, but the 76ers center is considering playing for Canada's Olympic basketball team.
Born in Haiti, Dalembert says he is eligible to play for Canada because his mother, Yurose Raymond, is a Canadian citizen.
Dalembert said that Canadian Olympic coach Leo Rautins, a former Sixer, has approached him about the idea of playing in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
Last Tuesday, when the Phoenix Suns played the Sixers, Dalembert said he talked to the most famous Canadian player, Suns point guard Steve Nash, about the possibility of competing for the Olympic team.
Dalembert said Nash has not committed to play for Canada yet.
"If Steve Nash decides to play, it is something to consider," Dalembert said before last night's game with the Houston Rockets. "I can't say it's something I have seriously considered, but I am looking into it."
Dalembert, who moved from Haiti to Montreal at age 14 and lived there for two years, said one thing he wants to research is how competitive Canada's Olympic team would be.
In addition to Nash, another Canadian who could help the team is Jamaal Magloire of the Milwaukee Bucks.</div>

A beast? He is far from that right now... he plays purely on athletecism. When he learns the game, and learns to catch the damn ball, he'll be one of the top centers in the league... but not a beast. At least not in my eyes.

I don't mind him playing for the Canadian Olympic team either... as long as he doesn't hurt himself. It's better than letting him sit around and eat potato chips all summer.

5 blks against Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets, need I say more, this guy can is, a Ben Wallace-developie in the works. He just needs to play a good solid 2-3 yrs under the same playbook.

I don't think he'll ever be a Ben Wallace... he doesn't have the toughness that Ben does. He's a LONG way from being anything close to Ben Wallace, and he's not going to reach that level.

anything can happen. when big ben first came into the league, as an undrafted FA, nobody thought he would be the player he is today. im not saying that sammy will be the next ben wallace, but he certainly has the potential to be

He just needs to get rid of that sad excuse of a braids, and turn it to a Mohawk, or at best some more of the AFRONESS!

Well Sammy said he would consider if Nash goes. If Nash goes he could probably get Magloire to go. Wouldn't be a bad team for Canada for once.

Ben Wallace is far superior than Dalembert, and I don't think Sam even has the potential to be a Ben Wallace player. Ben does much more than Sammy does... I don't even want to get into the long list...

Yeah, I also heard that Sam said he'd only play for Canada if Steve Nash plays, otherwise he probably won't.

the only thing that ben has the sam doesnt have is hustle. ben has absolutley no more skill than sammy, maybe even less on the offensive end. but he is always going after the ball.

Wow... a lot of people here need to step back a bit, and take a long, hard look at Sammy.

Hustle is the only thing Ben has over Sam? I agree he does have more hustle than Sam, but that certainly is not the ONLY thing that Ben has over Sam.

Ben can step out and defend guards. Can Sam do that? No.

Ben brings toughness to the Pistons team. Does Sam do that? No.

Ben has a much higher basketball IQ than Sam does...

Those are only three things... there are plenty more, but I honestly do not have the patience to list them all.

The only thing Sam has over Ben at this point is his offensive game... and that is because of AI. Sam can't create a shot for himself, and relies on AI and CWebb to get his points.

Ben is infinitely better than Sam, and I don't ever see Sam having the impact Ben does... but as long as Sam is a Sixer I'm hoping he proves me wrong.

Please... take a step back, and re-examine your views. Quit the homerism.

Wallace is alot stronger than Sammy. He has a larger body and wider body. Dalembert won't be the rebounder Wallace is, but WILL be a better offensive player than Wallace is. He is a better FT shooter. He is not as smart as Wallace, and may never be, but he still learning. Give him another 2 years with Moses Malone helping him and he will get smarter with knowing when to shoot and when to go up and block. Wallace is known for his strength and hustle, Sammy will be known for his athleticsm and shot blocking.

I think it would be a great experience for Sam Damlembert to play for Team Canada over the summer. At least he will be working on his game and maybe playing with some fundamental players he will finally improve a bit.
