With Kaman's improvement through the year, and with the C position not neccesarily being the strongest, he's looking like a Top 10 C this year. 1. Shaquille O'neal 2. Yao Ming 3. Marcus Camby 4. Ben Wallace 5. Brad Miller 6. Mehmet Okur [unless you put him as a PF] 7. Zydrunas Ilguaskas 8. Chris Kaman 9. Samuel Dalmbert 10. Andrew Bogut 11. Jamaal Magloire 12. Eddy Curry 13. Alonzo Mourning 14. Brendan Haywood 15. Erick Dampier Kaman is averaging about 11 PPG | 9 RPG | 1.7 BPG, and 53% FG. In January he averaged about 15 points and 10 rebounds, and he's just been playing great this season, also getting a few 20-10 games. The Clippers have one of the best frontcourts in the league, producing about 36 points and 20 rebounds together.
I think he's a decent center, but is he really better than Dalembert, Mourning, or Bogut? And how about Joel Przybilla?
Kaman has improved by leaps and bounds this year, but he doesn't strike me as a top 10 center. In the future I think he can, but I don't think so now. Dalembert is putting up 2 less points, but he's averaging another rebound and almost two more blocks than him. Bogut and Magloire are about as good as him.
Wow I never relized Kaman was having such an improving season. He is really going under the radar this year. Still I think the list is... 1. Shaq 2. Yao 3. Marcus Camby 4. Ben Wallace 5. Alonzo Mourning(i may be putting hmi a little high, but I think he is still a top5 center in the league. Better than Miller, Z, all of them. 6. Mehmet Okur 7. Zydrunas Illigauskas 8. Samuel Dalembert 9. Brad Miller 10. Eddy Curry ^^I'd take any of them in a heartbeat over Kaman.
Why is curry better than kaman? Curry doesn't rebound nor block like a C supposed to do...despite being 7 foot And...yeah..Przybilla should be up there, at least a top 15 consideration

I'd actually consider him and Dalmbert equal, while Dalmbert is a better rebounder and superior shot blocker, Kaman is no slacker in those areas, and is far superior as a post scorer, and a little better as an individual defender. He's able to keep out of foul trouble a lot better. Yes his PPG is only slightly higher, but one thing a guy like Kaman who you can dump the ball down to for a post up does is he allows the perimeter guys to take less bad shots, knowing they have the downlow option, and also sucks the defense in a little, opening up the perimeter a little more. In terms of Alonzo, I actually would put slightly Alonzo above him, I copied and pasted the list, and forgot to change that. Alonzo right now though is only a better shot blocker and defender, but he's very good in those areas. As a starter he averaged 11 points, 8 rebounds, but almost 4 blocks in 30 MPG. The only downfall to Alonzo is that he can't play more than about 28-30 MPG at a high level, but these guys are only playing about 3 more minutes anyways. I would not put Przybilla over Kaman though. I love Joel's shot blocking, but Kaman this year is a far superior scorer, better rebounder, passer, etc etc. He's also a much better defender than most people think, and individually, Joel is only a little above him. He started slow in November, but look at the next 2 months: <font color=""Navy"">December:</font> 10.8 PPG | 10.2 RPG | 1.0 APG | 1.62 BPG | 51.7% FG | 35.8 MPG <font color=""Navy"">January:</font> 14.1 PPG | 10.6 RPG | 1.1 APG | 1.64 BPG | 57.3% FG | 33.3 MPG <font color=""Navy"">February:</font> 15.5 PPG | 11.5 RPG | 1.8 APG | 0.75 BPG | 59.6% FG | 38.3 MPG <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">1. Dalembert has had many stretches in games where he would just take over. When I say take over I mean like NOBODY would get a layup or dunk attempt. Overall Dalembert just has a bigger impact.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post"> 8. Chris Kaman 9. Samuel Dalmbert </div> How has he had a better year than Dalembert? Dalembert: 9.4ppg on 55.4% FG, 10.3rpg and 3.3bpg (league leader) Kaman: 11.3ppg on 53.2% FG, 9.5rpg and 1.7bpg Their figures are quite similar, until you get to the blocks category where Dalembert not only dominates, but doubles Kaman's tally. Kaman is having a great year, but to say he's had a better year than Dalembert is incorrect.
I said in the other post that I would rank them equally, mainly because I know Kaman's season stats aren't representative of how good he is, but I made the list a while ago, and copy and pasted. I still feel Kaman is the better player though. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Agree with your assesment but I'd still put Dalembert over him. Overall Dalembert just has a bigger impact.</div> I can't argue with that, Kaman has had nice impact too, though he's not the same defensive shot blocking presence, but I've loved how Dalembert has played this year in terms of rebounding and shotblocking, this is what I expected from him last season, and I'm happy he's finally doing his thing. Now, the downfall to Samuel is that his basketball IQ is not very high. While Kaman has ADD, he has superior basketball IQ to Dalembert. Dalembert also like I said before is not that good a man to man defender, and he get's a lot of goaltends along with his blocks. While he scores points, his offensive ability does not come close to Kaman's. Kaman has a nice array of post moves, he can finish with both hands, knows how to handle double teams etc. Kaman's stats offensively were also down in the beginning of the year because of the transition of the new players, and because Maggette was still there, making him a lesser option. Kaman is a much better offensive player, smarter player, and a better man to man defender.
Kaman > Dalembert IMO. Although I haven't seen both play much, I hear philly fans always talkin about Dalemberts lack of BBall IQ. Also, Kaman started off slow for the season but now is pretty hot. Given 30 mins he'll get a double double and hit his FT's. I own him and fantasy so I see his stats all the time, and I saw a HUGE increase in everything as the season went on. I remember for a stretch of games he averaged like 16 pts and 14 rebounds.
