<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ESPN - The Clippers are getting plenty of low-post production from Elton Brand and Chris Kaman and thus have targeted Minnesota's Eddie Griffin -- a big man who prefers the perimeter -- as an ideal catch before the Feb. 23 trading deadline. L.A. is offering Chris Wilcox, according to NBA front-office sources, but the Wolves have resisted, even though Griffin is in and out of coach Dwane Casey's rotation</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?pa...ht&lid=tab3pos2 Although this has nothing to do with the Lakers, shouldn't we be targetting Wilcox? If the Clippers want to get rid of Wilcox for a parimiter player, why not offer Brian Cook? I love Cook and we'd really miss his outside shot because he is our only real great pure shooter from outside, but I believe Chris Wilcox's athelticism and defensive play is worth it to us. Although we don't have many, if any great shooters, we need interior scorers and someone who can block shots down the lane. Wilcox, who is a very athletic post player, would fit that bill perfectly. At times he reminds me of Kwame, but on the upside he is a very active player who can make a difference for us down the lane. Our interior defense is very poor and we got burned this last road trip, and it is pretty evident that we need to put a new body down low. Cook for Wilcox, Make it happen Mitch... please...
No thanks. Chris Wilcox is an upgrade over the Laker PFs, but he's one of those players who show up only in contract years. I just don't see the Triangle suiting his skillset. Wilcox is not fundamentally sound, and cannot pass out of double teams. He's going to want an expensive, long term deal this summer, which doesn't fit into the 2007 cap plan. The one benefit of landing him would be trade bait. I think he would have a lot more value than Brian Cook because a lot of teams have inquired about Wilcox.
