But in a huge surprise, the Wizards' Gilbert Arenas, the fifth-leading scorer in the league, was left off the reserve squad in voting by Eastern coaches.

That could be remedied, however, when Commissioner David Stern personally selects the replacement for injured starter Jermaine O'Neal of the Pacers.

Carter joins Pistons Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton as reserves.

Also on the East's reserve squad are two surprises, from struggling teams — Paul Pierce of the Celtics and Chris Bosh of the Raptors.

No, I'm pretty sure he is. He definately deserves it, Howard isn't winning either, and is not playing better, and Webber isn't even doing good. I'm not too happy that Arenas didn't make if over Pierce though as he surpasses him in wins, and matches him in numbers.

Wow, that's crazy how Arenas might be left off the team. I don't remember the last time a player averaging 28 points a game and fourth in the league in scoring didn't make it on the all-star team. I remember it used to be a big deal when someone averaging in the low twenties in points didn't make it on the team.

Bosh is totally deserving of it the way he has played all season. Its great that the Raps have someone representing them in both games at all-star wkend.
I'm happy too that Billups finally got the call this year as well. He's the one deserving player that has been over-looked at this time of year for the last couple of seasons.

    GO EAST!!!

I UNDERSTAND THE PISTONS ARE REALLY GOOD THIS YEAR, THEY SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ALL STAR SQUAD, THIS IS SO STUPID, WHY DIDNT GILBERT ARENAS MAKE IT?? so many more deserving players than those 2 especially rip hamilton

I wouldnt pick Arenas over Vince for an All-Star spot simply because the Nets are a winning team...plus Vince Carter had an amazing December (won POM).

Flip will pick the starter...but I don't know if he would pick Sheed over Bosh. Bosh did torch Sheed for 37 points in Detroit, but then again it his own player.

Redd and Arenas are canidates to replace JO with J-Kidd and Howard having outside shots.

arenas will be the one replacing JO
and the detroit pistons are doing really well which is why four of their players made it

umm go check the stats man
billups is playing amazing and is not only playing like an all-star but also an MVP which is why his name is there for the MVP canditates for this season
and RIP is also having his career-best season..and ontop of that his team is winning

both these guys deserve the all-star spot
the only pistons i think should not have made it is sheed

Flip said he doesn't want to start a Piston in Jermaine's spot and would rather bring all four of them off the bench at the same time.

ahem...see my sig plz [IMG] i knew it was gonna happen

    as for this:

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NYCfinest123:</div><div class="quote_post">finally bosh in an allstar uniform, but sad part is WTF? RIP HAMILTON AND CHAUNCY BILLUPS?????? you have no clue what you're talking about...chauncey is probably the leading candidate for league MVP right now...and rip hamilton is the best mid-range shooter in the league, and the leading scorer on the leagues best team. how can you leave either of those guys off? if anyone from the pistons maybe didnt deserve the spot over gilbert, its rasheed.

the mark of greatness is when opposing teams make trades to augment their club before they face bosh in the regular season-the bobcats did just that by trading bogans for lonny baxter.

Well Gil got in as the injury reserve. I had 0 problem with Billups making it, anyone that had a problem with him making it is on crack. Billups is averaging about 19 PPG and 9 APG, is one of the better defensive PG's in the league, and is clutch.

I would've taken Arenas over Rip, but you know, I can't hate on him making it. Rasheed on the other hand, nope, and if Tayshaun had made it, I wouldn't even watch the game [J/K].
