<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">February 9, 2006 -- The Nets' Vince Carter and four Pistons are among the seven Eastern All-Star reserves to be officially announced today, The Post has learned.
But in a huge surprise, the Wizards' Gilbert Arenas, the fifth-leading scorer in the league, was left off the reserve squad in voting by Eastern coaches.

That could be remedied, however, when Commissioner David Stern personally selects the replacement for injured starter Jermaine O'Neal of the Pacers.

Carter joins Pistons Rasheed Wallace, Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton as reserves.

Tayshaun Prince is the only Piston starter not selected.

Also on the East's reserve squad are two surprises, from struggling teams — Paul Pierce of the Celtics and Chris Bosh of the Raptors.

Besides O'Neal, fans voted as East starters: Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade of the Heat, LeBron James of the Cavs and Allen Iverson of the Sixers.

The West starters are Houston's Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, Tim Duncan of the Spurs and Steve Nash of the Suns.

The West reserves were not available. </div>

In my honest opinion, although Gil is having a great year, Michael Redd should get O'Neal's spot. Not only is he having an amazing year aswell, but his team is in the playoffs right now. Something must be said for that. Big ups to Chris Bosh, a first of MANY All-Star games to come.

^^over Pierce?? Na I like the Bosh seletion though, Pistons are good because they are a team I dont think as individual players besides Billups and Big Ben they are All Star worthy.

Ben, Billups and Rip would be my piston selections and then you could put in Arenas and/or Michael Redd to fill out the roster without Jermaine. Not a bad lineup, but does not quite seem like an all star team, more seems like the pistons and a bunch of other guys and I didn't really want to see that. Will be interesting to see the west reserves though.

Well, hopefully the Pistons and their fans will finally shut up about "not getting respect."

But if they screw up and somehow don't win a championship after all this hype, then all that respect will fly right out the window.

    No pressure. [IMG]

Arenas can definately be over Pierce.

    <font color=""Navy"">Arenas:</font>
    28 PPG | 4 RPG | 6 APG

    <font color=""Navy"">Pierce:</font>
    26 PPG | 7 RPG | 5 APG

If they want to talk about records, the Wizards are 1 game above .500 while the Celtics are 1 game above the Raptors. If Pierce was killing Arenas with his numbers, okay, but Arenas is putting up just as pretty numbers and winning more. If Pierce made it as a guard, which I'm assuming is what he made it as, that's retarded.

Pistons still get disrespected by many fans in this league so that tag likely won't go away anytime soon.

Those stats are pretty similar, but still Paul Pierce has made the All Star team 4 years straight having worse statistics then he is now. Although his team is struggling everyone knows Paul Pierce is having his best year, So if Pierce made the team 4 years straight playing worse then he is now, how come now you think he shouldnt be on the squad?

I think we can officially say the Pistons got their respect. They are being regarded as one of the best starting fives of all time, they are being compared to the 90's Bulls team that had the 72 win record. Not to mention they got a player that's in MVP contention PLUS they get four guys on the All-Star team which I don't think that's been done quite possible since the late 80's with the Celtics. What more respect can you get?

Amen to that, maybe inthe last couple of seasons pistons weren't getting respect, but they're definately getting it this season. So piston fans shouldn't complain.

Nah, Lakers also had 4 during the 97 season? Shape will know. When Eddie Jones, NVE, Kobe and Shaq all made the team.

This is ridiculous....Prince averages 4 rebounds and is just a role player, he isn't an all star, he contributes to a winning team,

Rasheed is a PF who averages 6 rebounds in over 36 minutes of play...be serious, he's a great defender but...an all star? Does he have All star talent? YES, but the numbers shouldnt be ignored, Rasheed doesn't have the numbers, he's a role player along with Prince

Stop this "most winniest player" contest, this game is about the most fun productive players in the league to watch...come on man, who wants to see Teyshaun Prince in the all star game over Arenas or others?

DUMB, Pistons should be Billups and Wallace...and Hamilton if theres room for him.

Arenas team needs to win more games for him to be on All star squard.
I agree that Redd needs to be an All Star this year.
When will we know West Reserves?
I'm dying to see E Brand and J Richarson this year
Also I agree with Jose about Rasheed. A PF with 6-7 boards is average player. Although his team is winning the most games, I think it's because Billups and Hamilton who are having the best year of their career.....unfortunaltely for other teams, this duo are having the best career year at the same year. That sucks for other teams. Anyways if All star is all about numbers, Yao Ming shouldn't be a starter too.
They sell the rights to televise to China and make billions for sure so they need Yao there.

Some of you need to realise It's more about wins than just talent and stats.

Its one game in the whole year of the best players...it has nothing to do with wins, and it shouldnt.

We deserve to see the most productive players in the NBA.

Pistons are going to the Finals, because of their teamwork, and how well they work together...but that doesn't mean their whole roster should be on the all star team.
