And J-Rich? He put up the best stats of his career and he is playing with Baron beside him. People expected him to take a back-seat, but he has stepped it up. Also vcwannabe15, might wanna work on grammar and post quality. If you think that Baron is better than Ray, and that Seattle is worse then us give reason.
Nah, if he's complementing the Warriors, no need for an explanation But if he disses on them.... then he needs to explain himself! j/k

FG% (barely though), better rebounding, less turnovers, and plays on a better team. Its pretty easy to argue that J-Rich is at least as deserving as Ray Allen. Not to take anything away from Allen but Warrior fans are sick of the old excuse that players on a good team get in and now Ray Allen is getting in on a worse team.

Baron Davis averges more rebounds then Ray Allen (and hes a PG), he averges more assists, steals, and blocks and he is only playing 37 minutes per game compared to Ray Allen's 39.
Baron doesn't deserve to be in the All-Star game. He dominates the ball, which is how he gets his stats. He'll pass it when he can get the easy assist. He takes a ton of ill-advised threes. Too selfish imo, plus he hasn't led the team to a winning record. For example the Wizards game, last night. Just look at the shots attempted and FG%, they shot incredibly well but took 6 shots and 8 shots, while Baron, for some reason wanting to show up Arenas in scoring match got embarrased, shot a lousy percentage and missed crucial freethrows. Had he distrubuted the ball to other players who were shooting well, they would have won this easily.
I can't say I've very surprised. Parker is putting up very good numbers, and I guess Ray Allen has the more "All-Star" appeal. I would argue for them if the Warriors were a winning team like they were earlier in the year, but their numbers don't blow the oppositions out of the water, and they're a losing team, so... Sucks though, but I wasn't expecting them to make it. If anyone, Paul should've made it as a guard.
I can see no Warriors making an All-Star. Frankly, after Jamison and his over 25 ppg couldn't make it or even considered as an injury replacement, I gave up on non-PO team making an All-Star. But, Allen??? In front of surprising Hornets and Paul? Sonics are second worst team in West, and how in the world he got the vote over Paul? Same goes with Pierce over Arenas or Redd. Awful a lot of surprise picks this year...
I'm not convinced any Warrior deserved to be an all-star. Tolbert made a good point -- when you talk about "oh, how could that guy not be an all-star," remember you'd have to take someone off the roster to fit him in. The only player on that roster you could argue this about is Ray Allen. He deserves to be there. He has a better efficiency rating than either JRich or Baron. He scores more than either player, and while JRich grabs 1.5 more boards per game, he gets 1 more assist per game. Baron has nice numbers, and I'm one of his biggest fans, but his FG% is horrible and he refuses to stop jacking threes. I can see why coaches would be hesitant to vote for him. Ray? He's money. Go Warriors.
I've always figured that all-star guards at least shot decent free throw % or field goal %, but there were exceptions. Even with a guy like Gary Payton, he stood out among defensive guards and shot a great fg%. Then with Jason Kidd he was a lock for being one of the better defensive players in the league and got rebounds and steals. He didn't have to shoot the ball to be dangerous in the fourth quarters and that's how good his decision making is. With Baron Davis he's as efficient as all-star Antoine Walker who has a chance to help you and hurt you at the same time with that shot selection and poor free throw percentage. Defensively, he gambles way too much on steals. The other team hopes to turn him into a high % shooter and it sucks how he plays right into that plan. Of all the positions you want the point guard to take less shots and score more efficiently and move that ball and play team defense. Jrich is a good player, but among shooting guards he still isn't dominant in one category. He's not a great one-on-one threat like Vince Carter/Kobe Bryant or he can't weave in and out of offenses like Manu Ginobilli or Dwayne Wade. He's not a great dynamic shooter like Ray Allen/T-mac from about anywhere (Richardson will always pick his spots because it gives him the highest probability of a made field goal). Jrich isn't a top defensive player. Jrich for now is just an all around guy with some major flaws for a shooting guard. All-star shooting guards don't lose games by missing free throws, they don't settle for more threes than they do free throw attempts, and most importantly they can create their own shots and split defenders. Jrich has some trouble with this when there's more than one defender nearby. He's just not as quick or skilled with the ball to be nearly unstoppable (even off the ball). Jrich and Baron are great players, but they compare pretty poorly to other players that do the things necessary to get their team a W. Listen to their coach, not take stupid unecessary risks unless they're sure its going in, and also do the basics like hit free throws. If it's two things coaches hate it's guys who don't listen and guys who don't hit their free throws. Baron or Jrich could be one of those guys with that reputation of deviating from the offense or not hitting those important shots that come to haunt you in the box scores.
