It was reported here in Houston on Sportsradio 610 that the Rockets and Derek Anderson have mutually agreed to seek out a trade that would send DA elsewhere...

I suppose that was what yesterday's big meeting between JVG and DA was all about...DA's been healthy for atleast a week and met with Van Gundy to ask why he hasnt been put on the active list, and I guess JVG feels that the team doesnt need DA at this point...

That certainly makes more sense than a flatout contract buyout.

This is what JVG said in today's practice:

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting "Rockets.com":</div><div class="quote_post">
(on what the Bogans move means for Derek Anderson)
“Derek and I had a meeting yesterday that was scheduled before he said he was asking for a meeting. Since we already had a meeting scheduled, I found it interesting that he we asking for a meeting. He was brought in here to help a good team make a move up, and we certainly aren’t in the same position as we were at the start of the year. He’s missed 29 straight games since Dec. 14 and not really been on the practice floor. Since I knew we would be trading for Keith (Bogans), I thought it would be the right time to get together and see how we would move forward. We both came to the conclusion that it would be best if we tried to find another team for him. That’s what we’re going to try to do.”

(on why they reached that decision with Anderson and Jon Barry’s status)
“It benefits us because we get out of the second year of his contract and we have more roster flexibility going forward, and frankly, this is no knock on him, but what you don’t want to do is surround McGrady, who’s had some health issues; we need to get bigger and a little more durable back there. We got into a situation this year where the two guys we had to protect McGrady fell by the wayside. I think it will be good for him. He would be best served on a very good team because he’s a very, very bright player and he will be able to help somebody, certainly. As far as Barry, he’s played in five games and played 29 minutes since Nov. 25, and he said he was healthy before back in January and he got hurt again. He likes to talk, but he knows where he stands because I’ve met with him a few times.”

    (more on Anderson’s situation)
“I’m just saying it’s in both of our interests right now for him to be someplace else. For him, it gives him a chance to play more than he’ll play here and also to get with a team with a better record and also try to establish his contract for next year. For us it gives us flexibility not to have the second year of his contract and Keith Bogans is a restricted free agent – we can see how that works out for us the rest of the year, and then we have right of first refusal. Derek was a true pro while he was here; he’s a great guy, he’s smart as heck and he’ll be a great addition to some other team.”

A trade? That sounds good. Rockets didn't lose any player to aquare DA before, right? DA is a stylish player who can play. Used to be a very good 3 pt shooter who also has speed to penetrate. Too bad that he couldn't do much even in the early season he is healthy. Wish he can do well in somewhere else. : )

Good move. Anderson's style of play didn't mesh with TMac and Yao on the floor, and trading him would be the best idea. He won't be part of our youth movement and Van Gundy said the key thing, which is not wanting to surround McGrady with injury-prone players. Many playoff teams can use an explosive scorer like DA, and the Rockets could come away with one or two second round picks. Great decision and great professionalism on Anderson's part to agree to a trade.

I think we're only going to get a draft pick out of him because his contract is very small.

Umm maybe we'll trade him for another guy who is in the same situation as him sitting on the bench playz the same position. personally i would like to see him traded for JR Smith and throw in two or one second round pick what y'all think?

I think the Lakers and Nets are two teams who could use his offense off the bench...

I dont think he is going to to the Lakers, Rocket, remember he said a long time ago that he would rather be payed 5 million with losing than 1.7 million with winning. I dont think the Lakers would want him after he said that.

DA and Swift, plus I think the Rockets have a trade exception, make a pretty good package to get a player that can knock down an open jumper.

The Rockets need some better peices. If the Rockets could get back a big guard or SF, and a shooting PF that can stretch the D like S.Padgett did last year, I would hope they would make it happen.
I wouldn't expect a difference maker in exchange for Stro, just a better peice to fit with Yao and TMac.

I think the rockets could definitely get something out of a DA and Swift deal.....at least I'm hoping so [IMG]

Difference if you haven't noticed JVG still thinks Swift can be something and believe that he will be something beside yao ming and i am not going to be one to doubt him. Anderson he has basically just given up on.

I think DA might go to New York for a first pick.

Anderson is the only tradeable guy. JVG seems to like wesley and he's the only other tradeable guy. JB is too old for a trade. Anderson might even be waived though, his trade value isn't very high

And why would New York want another chucker who is a misfit at every position?

The rockets do really need another ball handler.
When Skip goes out, there is not really a second line guy that can quickly bring up the ball. Mooch being the backup point really is not good.

L.Head has not been given the chance to in games to bring up the ball and run the offense much.

In exchange for DA and maybe that trade exception, I hope they can get a legit backup point.
Maybe a second rounder, then bring back J.Lucas III

Head doesn't look steady as a ballhandler. He isn't great at protecting the ball and his dribble is high and away from his body. As a volunteer coach, I can say that dribbling like that makes it very easy for defenders to slap the ball away without getting called for a foul. Moochie is actually a steady ballhandler, but yeah, he's not the best man for the backup point guard job.

Don't like it at all. DA is a very good player, and had the potential to improve this team. If your going to trade a player, let it be David Wesley. Although Wesley's stepped it up recently, I don't see him being a major factor in the playoffs (against the bigger shooting guards). DA should have been somewhat of a answer for that, but i guess not.
