http://www.hurons.blogspot.com/ I'm not sure how reliable of a source this is, but there is a mention of RealGM and ESPN. I think this would be a great trade. An injured Cato for Arroyo and Darko. Injury and age for youth and potential... It makes me want to drool.

Acquiring Darko would give us a young center to play next to Dwight for years to come and Arroyo would let us dangle our other point guards out to other teams as trade bait. The fact that all we are giving is an injured veteren in Cato makes it ten times better and I would be so happy with our organization if we can pull this one off.
I don't think this trade will go through. Cato is injured and Darko and Arroyo that s too much for Cato and the Pistons are getting ripped offed.
Whoa, for real? That'd be a great move by Orlando but it just doesnt make sense from Detroit's point of view...
this trade was rumoured ages ago and had no truth to It. It would only of been possible had Chucky Atkins gone to Detroit but he didn't.
This has a 0.1% chance of happening. People don't realize how important Charlos Arroyo is to the Pistons. If "Mr. Big Shot" goes down in the playoffs with an injury then without a backup point guard who knows how the Pistons would go without their MVP, especially a team like Miami.
Here is another article on the topic. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Florida Today - The Orlando Magic have made inquiries into possibly trading for Detroit Pistons reserve power forward Darko Milicic and point guard Carlos Arroyo, but assistant general manager Otis Smith said no deal is imminent. The Magic could be offering reserve center Kelvin Cato, who has played just 23 games this season because of ankle, foot and shoulder injuries. The 6-foot-11, 275-pound center hasn't played since Jan. 18 after spraining his ankle. Cato has a cracked bone in his right foot and isn't expected to play until after the All-Star break. If healthy, Cato could give the Pistons another center for the playoffs against possible foes Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Duncan and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Detroit might be willing to make Milicic, 20, available considering the tremendously disappointing start to his career. He was the second overall choice of the 2003 NBA Draft -- ahead of Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Kirk Hinrich -- but has played sparingly the past three seasons, scoring just 152 points in 95 games. He's played a total of 137 minutes in 24 games this season. Arroyo is expendable now that Lindsey Hunter is back after missing the first three months of the season with surgery on his left ankle. "We've talked with them, but we've talked to a lot of teams," Smith said. "I still like the team that we've assembled, but we just haven't been able to see it together because of injuries. So we're having to look at some different things. You can't just be stagnant. Like they say, if you're not getting better, you're getting worse."</div> http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives..._darko_milicic/

I really don't like Darko at all I've seen him in preseason when they played here (Grand Rapids MI) he had a decent game stat wise but Curry and Chandler destroyed him in the pain. I don't think he would be good for this team he is extremely lazy Last year the pistons put him and arroyo in a game when they were up by like 15 and the had to take both of them back out becouse of their lack of effert then they showed the on the bench and they were both laughing. Darko has said before that he does not want to go down to the D-leauge and he is definately not ready for the nba.
I don't know the chances of this deal going through, but if it did, it would be a very nice move. Darko wasn't drafted over Anthony for nothing. He has gobs of potential, but you have to wonder how much of it was wasted in his first two years in the league. It depends on what Detroit is offering, but if the Magic can get Darko at a cheap cost, by all means they should do it. If Darko develops properly, he and Howard would make the NBA's best frontline. You would have versatile center able to step out and shoot while being able to make plays for everyone else. This is all IF he develops.
I see the pistons doing this because they need catos expiring contract to resign Ben Wallace this summer. He will definately demand a max contract in free agency. The pistons have all their other starters locked up for years to come and with the way they are playing they are going to do whatever it takes to get big ben back and keep the team together. Two 20-year-old big men sounds good to me.
Darko is a dumbass. Everyone who watched the Euro basket and read what went on in the Serbian team and about Darko's attitude and behaviour knows that I'm talking the truth. I don't want to see him in a Magic uniform....
That would not be a bad trade at all for the Magic. I think that the Magic really need to go after this and try to get Darko. Like Swish15, Dwight needs a young C to help him down low and Darko could be the guy for that.
Darko would hurt Howard more than help, He (Howard) would be fouling out because he would always have to help Darko. We wouldn't even be having this conversation if the pistons didn't draft him #2 overall He would have went somwhere were he would have got mins and would have been a bust. I don't see why people think he has potential first people say Larry Brown doesn't like to play rookie's then he goes to NY and starts 2, Flip Saunders comes in and he was supposed to get Darko 15-20 mins a game and now he doesn't play him. 2 nba coach's don't play him that should tell you something. I mean if the pistons really though Darko had a chance to pan out why would the trade him for Calvin Cato (It's not to dump his contract there are other ways to do that) If the Pistons thought he would ever do anything they would have him backing up Ben Wallace not Dale Davis. This Guy was Lazy in Europe and he is lazy here He hasn't gained any muscle since he has been in the league. If this trade happens I would be way more excited to get Arroyo than I would Darko.

The same site that started this rumor has now added an update to the trade talks. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Here is the latest from the Pistons postgame host-WDFN's Matt Dery. He spoke with the Pistons brass today. The Magic offered Cato for Arroyo and Milicic a month ago and Dumars turned them down. Joe Dumars and John Hammond both flew to Orlando for last Fridays game. The met with Otis Smith. Smith countered and said he would throw in this years first round pick. Joe Dumars did not turn that offer down. It looks like this will happen (Just as Darko's friends told me after the Clippers game), however the Pistons need a guard to take Arroyo's spot. It looks to me that this will get done and Detroit will get a PG, either from ORL, or another team.</div> http://hurons.blogspot.com/ Now that Smith is adding in this year's first round pick, I don't like this trade one bit. Darko and Arroyo are good additions to this team but if it means giving up our 2006 pick (which will most likely be an early lottery pick) I don't think it is worth it.

I'm hoping Smith protected it from the lottery for this year and then Top 3 for next year. If he didn't then here comes another crap trade by the Magic organization.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting GatorsowntheSEC:</div><div class="quote_post">If he didn't then here comes another crap trade by the Magic organization.</div> ehh...we're already used to it....
I wouldn't give a 1st rounder for Darko whether it's protected or not, He is the laughing stock of the league and has done nothing to merit a #1 pick. Even Pistons fans make fun of him (I live in michigan) I didn't like this trade before I knew we were giving a #1 I definatly don't like it now. On top of this Arroyo has already made it clear that he does not want to come to Orlando.
