19 points (8-10 FG), 6 rebounds, and 4 assists at the half so far for Gasol against the Lakers. It's a tie game, 52-52, but the Grizzlies were up by as much as 13 in the second quarter. We just can't get any point guard play. Chucky Atkins and Bobby Jackson just come down and throw up a shot every posession without trying to run a play or get the ball to Gasol in the post. Nearly every last one of Gasol's points has been the product of his own hard work. He's had to create everything for himself. Just look at the numbers. Atkins and Jackson have combined for 5-11 shooting and both only recorded two assists in the first half. How sad is that? Not only are our point guards are taking more shots than our franchise player, but they're not falling. Not to mention that Gasol, as a center, has recorded just as many assists as both of them combined. Anyway, if they start feeding the ball to Gasol, he has the potential to have a career high in points and a triple double in the same night.
I'm getting worried already. I went out at quarter time, we were 7 up and Pau had 15, come back now and we're 1 down and Pau only has 19. Hopefully we can have a good second half, Pau can continue to build on his numbers and we can log a much needed W.
What the hell is wrong with our Point Guards? Get Pau the ball! We get a score almost everytime Gasol touches the ball, and yet Atkins and Jackson don't want to give up the ball. Gasol only has four points so far in the third quarter after only scoring four points in the second quarter. It's too bad. After he started out with fifteen points in the first ten minutes or so, I thought we were watching history.
One is just a ball-hog and the other isn't a true PG and is far better playing the role of a two. Oh to have a legit PG.
