Um, right now why in the hell would you build around Andre? He hasn't shown that he is the type of player who can lead a team, and be the first option. Until he does that, there is no point of building "around" him, but rather if we trade Iverson I'd rather see us build a team where each player compliments each other's skills... like Detroit.

Actually you bring up a good point. This is what could be keeping Billy King from trading Iverson. If Billy King were to trade Iverson he would need a young player to build this team around.

Also a lot of you guys are talking about Josh Boone, STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM! Yes I listed him as an All-American at the begining of the season but since then he has done nothing but disappoint me.

If your all looking for a big man, look toward Shelden Williams, Tyrus Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge (trade up), Nick Fazekas, even Hilton Armstrong. Bottom line is that I'm not a big fan of Boone.

    CK,

Are you a scout? Because scouts still rave about him. He has the most talented team in the country around him, and the bets front court. Maybe thats why he doesnt get the numbers like Shelden Williams. Williams will be a lottery pick, as will Tyrus Thomas. Thomas looks like a SF anyway. LaMarcus Aldrige is going in the top 3, no way we could trade up to get him. Armstrong is a possibility, but in the 15-20 range Josh Boone is still the best big man you could get.

First let me answer your question, no I am not an NBA scout; nor do I plan on being an NBA scout. But that being said I know a number of current NBA scouts, who educate me plenty on the NBA draft (One from the Charlotte Bobcats, one from the Denver Nuggets).

Josh Boone to me is a very overrated player, I'm not going to break out the game film or anything but yet use a rather simple technique called looking at the numbers. Take a look at these numbers against good/NCAA tournament level competition: 4 points/7 boards vs. Arkansas, 10 points/6 boards @ Arizona, 8 points/4 boards @ Gonzaga, 4 points/2 boards vs. LSU, 7 points/7 boards vs. Cincy, 4 points/3 boards vs. Georgetown, and finally my personal favorite 4 points/2 boards @Villanova. If your just looking at Josh Boone's averages, check out the Game Log chief, as you will see his 18 points/12 boards @Pepperdine, his 17 points/12 boards vs. Texas Southern, and his 18 points/10 boards against a very weak Syracuse team this year really bloat his averages higher than what it should be (not that it's even that high to begin with!).

Also if your going to begin to say that Josh Boone is on the most talented team in the country, which I agree with but you have to consider Marcus Williams was suspended for most of the year, Rudy Gay had a slow start, and Hilton Armstrong was getting his first starts in his young college career so early in the season could have been a great time for Boone to improve his draft stock, instead he didn't take advantage of it but putting up sub-par numbers against teams like Gonzaga, and Arizona. If you think Boone is on a talented team then what are Shelden Williams and LaMarcus Aldridge on?

I also forgot to mention a guy named Paul Davis in my post above, whom I would also rank above Josh Boone as far as big man rankings. Davis is a 6'10" athletic big man who can take the ball outside a bit and shoot the jumper. Davis also can block some shots in the post as well, just as well as Mr. Boone can. As far as my bigman rankings for the draft, here's how they look:

    1. LaMarcus Aldridge (Texas)
    2. Andrea Bargnani (Italy)
    3. Tyler Hansbrough (UNC)
    4. Josh McRoberts (Duke)
    5. Shelden Williams (Duke)
    6. Tyrus Thomas (LSU)
    7. Paul Davis (MSU)
    8. Shawne Williams (Memphis)
    9. Tiago Splitter (Brazil)
    10. Nick Fazekas (Nevada)
    11. Kevin Pittsnogle (West Virginia)
    12. Leon Powe (Cal)
    13. Marco Killingsworth (Indiana)
    14. Josh Boone (Uconn) [IMG]
Edited: Forgot Powe, Pittsnogle, Hansbrough, and McRoberts

UConn the best front court in the land? I don't think so, try PJ Tucker and LaMarcus Aldridge? But please take that discussion to the NCAA Hoops forum [IMG]
