*Tracy McGrady is hurting. After missing five games in mid-January with back issues, he returned with a bang on Jan. 20, averaging 39.7 points over the next three contests while making half his shots from the field. In the 11 games since, however, he's averaged just 22.3 a night, making a paltry 35 percent of his shots, culminating in a distressing 3-of-20 performance against the Knicks on Sunday. Topping that, he looks like a pained man, wincing and grimacing as he lopes up and down the court. Some might call it a familial thing -- cousin Vince Carter loves to pull the same stuff -- but anyone can tell that Tracy is truly hurting. He needs some time off, but this week's All-Star break (held in his adopted hometown of Houston, with McGrady voted to start in the exhibition) isn't going to offer much rest. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=cnns...cnnsi&type=lgns I thought T-Mac was feeling a lot better? So he's in the shooting stars thing and the all star game. those things offer a LOT less stress on the ody than a real NBA game does. I think it'll be a good break that can give him and Yao some much needed rest. That and he didn't have to play the fourth quarter tonight
I've always been mystified as to why hurt players go out and play in the all-star game (even given it's not as intense as normal games). The priority should always be the team.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jerry West:</div><div class="quote_post"> The priority should always be the team.</div> How about the fans? Anyways, I don't know if McGrady is physically in worse shape than when he came off his injury. He has said that he's physically fine, but there were some personal issues off the court he was dealing with. He said before the Clippers game that the "demons" were excorsized.

I believe his recent performance was just because, of him just not having his shot..he scored 28 last night, so he's on the rise again.
