this is sad looking at the FT thought it's warrior's home game? and they keep on missing FTs down the stretch...if they make the FTs at normal rate, this game wouldn't be this tight
Warriors have some really bad free throw shooters and the worst part is our best players have some really bad free throw shooting. If Baron, Dun, Pietrus, or Jrich had to make a game into a three posession game instead of a two, we'd be screwed.
now i understand why it's so painful watching them live heck me just refresh the yahoo sports boxscore and they freak me out just too much inconsistency to make playoffs they just got to improve in terms of...well...everything...and know how to close games out or make shots when it counts
The worst part about this game is that, even with the Warriors up 18, I was worried that the Clips would come back, and with the Clips closing it to six with under a minute, it's like they're in the driver's seat. They are down, but the Warriors are the one's who look nervous, miss free throws and make poor choices. The Clips are down but they look confident and relaxed. What an ugly attempt at closing out a game. OMG
Yeah, no kidding hoho, oop. It's nervous time, even with three posession game and 20 seconds left. All right! Now the Clippers have no timeouts and we avoid getting swept. I'm suprised the Clippers didn't do hack-a-Rich.

Also it helps that our lead guard ain't gambling for steals and is actually trying to stay in front. Anyway, I need a drink... that's the most nervous 3 posession game I've ever seen. Jrich would shoot much better free throw percentage if both hands weren't wrapped around his own neck all the time.
"Hack a Rich" LOL i wouldnt be surprised if jrichs freethrow shooting drops below 60%. hes really bad, i just dont get it. i thought after he adjusted his freethrow shooting he would raise his % but it was a one game fluke, i think he made like 7-7 after adjusting his freethrows, but it went back to normal again. its like everytime jrich is on the line i say "please at least make one" and hes a shooting guard . well enough about jrichs freethrow shooting, the third quarter they looked great and built a huge lead, then they started to think of what to do for there all-star break. hopefully they get baron, troy and andris back after the break. this shows a lot beating the clips w/o 3 of our top 5 players. GREAT WIN... GO WARRIORS!
HORRIBLE job at closing out the game...like alleyoop said, even when we had (what should have been) a commanding lead, i was still worried that the clips would make a comeback...and rightfully so. sometimes it seems like the w's do better in the 4th when they're down 10 than when they're up 10...frustrating.
Pulled out a must win game at home... Despite a terrible 4th quarter. It should be interesting if the way the team has been playing compells Mullin to move Murphy. We'll see
kobe shooting 6-12 from the line! and the lakers 55% as a team, i guess the warriors arent the only ones that couldnt shoot from the charity stripe today. those 6 freethrows were were really needed as they lost by 4 points. i know this has nothing to do with the clipper game but just wanted to compare the horrible freethrow shooting.
the long haired blonde and the redhead have slammin bodies... I have to say this is the best Warrior Girl Group in recent memory
Kobe shooting 6 of 12 from the free throw line is an anomaly, though. Jrich shooting from 6 of 12 from the free throw line is a regular occurence if he ever got to the line more times than he shoots three pointers. God forbid he should ever develop a terrific handle and takes it to the hole where he gets fouled 6 times a game. Oh wait that's Baron Davis. doh! I'm also with Cohanhater that Murphy might take away some things we have had going for us on defense lately. Sure he scores in double digits, rebounds, and has improved D, but is that offense/defense of his enough? Does he do enough overall to make the team game better or the defense better? I don't think we should trade him, but I think the chemistry is a lot better when we have guys working their asses off all the time, can do more things to affect game play on both ends, all the way through the game. The one thing I don't like about Murphy is he tends to reinforce the bad things about our team. Like he does a lot of the one-on-one crap which stops movement of the ball and sometimes forces the issue on a strong defender, he settles for the long ball a lot, he stands around on offense, and he doesn't do enough to alter shots or help others on defense. If you look at the activity level of other players, he seems super static to me in comparrison. In fact his stats are good, but I can't figure out why we still don't win, we still get outrebounded, we still shoot low % points while the other team scores high % points. It seems like we're not a cohesive unit on offense or defense with him in the game at times. At least the games we've played without him we've kept teams 40% or below and still have been able to rebound somewhat. It's like this year, we've played bad D, we hold onto the ball too long, we don't move off the ball enough, we take long shots which fuel other teams' fastbreaks, we play poor transition D, we have weak D inside. Those to me sound like Murphy traits. Also, I think we won without Baron Davis because Fisher has been playing great in his place. He's been running the plays the coaching staff wants him to, he's not settling for threes that can fuel breaks going the other way. Also, the rest of the team is stepping up because they can't rely on one guy anymore to create offense and they no longer have that influence to settle for threes and go one-on-one. They have to rely on each other, the coaching staff, and be more active as a team. And that's important. Sometimes when Baron Davis was the only guy doing stuff, teammates would think everything is okay, I'll follow what he's doing. Baron would then take matters into his own hands and the other guys would do jack or follow the same risky style of play. We have to play the team game even if Foyle might drop a pass or Dunleavy might throw up a clanker. Baron is young and he'll figure out if you don't move the ball early enough, the defenders will close up the passing lanes and put a trap on the ballhandler before there's a chance to get a play going. Also when Baron gets back he needs to become that guy like last year where he was trusting teammates more, taking less dumb shots, directing offense like a leader should, playing his man straight up, and was making an effort to get everyone involved on a play. We need the inside-outside game back and less focus on plays having to be one or two pass outside plays in the halfcourt. I can understand why sometimes Baron would just go chucks a hoy, but to ignore plays from the sideline from the coaches? That's just ignorant. When Montgomery/Mario Elie/and Keith smart are yelling at you from the sideline, you do it. The guys in New Orleans follow the game plan and that's why they win with less talent. Guys like Claxton, Paul, West, Desmond Mason and PJ Brown follow damn orders. Baron has some legit beef. I understand that guys wide open most of the time were either Foyle or Dunleavy, two of the most unreliable guys on offense at times, but at least make an attempt to move that ball or move off of it and then receive it back for the wide open shot. Baron is our best player, but man can he be the opposite side of the spectrum when he's being stubborn. One thing I noticed about our team is that ever since Pietrus got promoted (which I like), it added more of a sure thing on offense, especially on wide open shots. But we also lost a secondary point guard to carry on offense. Every good running team has had one from Kerry Kittles to Joe Johnson to Boris Diaw, etc, etc. Hopefully we get some guy that can do that passing, ballhandling for us and play the D and score. Dunleavy can do that somewhat...only somewhat The problem is we have Dunleavy in there when any combo of Fisher/Pietrus/Jrich/Baron are in... that makes Murphy usually the center and I hate Murphy at center. We have no freakin' D and we still suck at rebounding. Dunleavy also can't play power forward matchups every time. That's why I'm with Cohan hater on the whole Murphy thing. I trust Ike, Foyle or Biedrins on defense at center more than I do Murphy. Anytime we take the true center out of the game (like we had one to begin with in Foyle) we just lose a lot of defensive presence. Foyle, love him or hate him, can be effective when he's not having to cover a huge slacker on D. But maybe this is Montgomery's fault. After all he's pretty much damned if he does damned if he doesn't. I mean if Murphy got benched or Fisher got benched in crunch time what would happen? If we benched Fish we'd have no real good shooter on the team or reliable secondary ballhandler. If we benched Murphy we might have trouble on the defensive boards. I dunno what the coaches should do... they just need adequate matchups and guys who can defend, score, pass, create, and deliver. We need more defined roles too. That's why I hope Diogu/Biedrins are all they are cracked up to be at PF/C. I also hope Pietrus can be as lights out as Fisher in the catch and shoot role. Hopefully Dunleavy's role is to stay in when we need a mismatch at SF or PF. I can't see SF since he doesn't really shoot over anyone really well or post up smaller defenders. He's really good at driving though... also 4th quarter lineups, we need free throw shooters. If Baron/Jrich/Pietrus/Foyle/Biedrins had to close out close games, I'd be nervous we'd lose at the free throw line. In that case I'd rather have Ike/Murphy/Dunleavy/Fisher out there just so we don't botch up when we're intentionally fouled.
I was at this game... COURTSIDE BABY! Right behind the scorers table where everyone checks in. I saw every player up close, it was awesome. Although there were no amazing highlights, it was fun and I'm glad they won. They did a good job on Brand. Go Warriors. Also, it was awesome seeing the Warrior girls up close.

I was listening to Damon Bruce after the post-game show and one of his funnier comments was, "Forget Hack-a-Shaq, Hack-a-Warrior." Guys, the W's wanted to give this game away but only because they hustled they won. The problem is, they don't hustle that often and that's why we probably won't make the playoffs...(I hope I'm wrong).
Great win. Great team win. Everyone contributed. Fisher, Foyle, Diogu. Great job on the glass and interior defense. Pietrus is nice on the move, not so good standing still. Somebody tell that guy to make an 18 footer before he starts spotting up for the 3. Murphy? I walked into the arena with him Mon. night and he's a really great guy. He's not the problem. He's an asset. Without him, there's no tough rebounds. He's got good hands on rebounds and has been making his shots and playing great D. The Warriors got lucky because Brand was off and besides Gasol, the Grizz do not really have anyone else inside of note. Do not lose sight of what Murphy did against the elite, Duncan, Wallace, etc. Fisher? Aside from the late TO, best game I've ever seen him play in a Warrior uniform.
It's interesting to see this team without Davis and Murphy. For last 3 games... Cavs: 39.8% FG Snow: 6-8, 12 pts Gooden: 0-4, 1 pts Big Z: 5-16, 14 pts Marshall: 5-13, 12 pts Rebound: 38-36 Cavs Griz: 37.5% Aktins: 2-12, 10 pts Jackson: 4-10, 10 pts Gasol: 10-26, 23 pts Wright: 2-4, 4 pts Rebound: 48-48 Clippers: 40.2% Cassell: 6-16, 16 pts Ewing: 1-5, 2 pts Brand: 5-18, 15 pts Kaman: 5-11, 10 pts Rebound: 52-46 Warriors We didn't exactly collapse despite missing two starters. As a matter of fact, we were close to go 3 game winning streak. `The fact: We are much better with Davis. Watching 4th quarter in last 3 games were painful to say the least. And, Fisher will not average 20 pts when Davis is not here. That has been said, when Davis is here, we heavily rely on Davis, and that means if Davis has a bad game, the entire team suffers. For last few games, Davis hurted the team more than helped it, and in a sense, his injury may be a blessing in a disguise; he got a little break, because of All-Star break, we may only miss Davis for 3 games, and the team got a time to refocus and play hard. If this team play hard like last 3 games and Davis can help the team, who knows what can happen? And, we can really use another 18-8 run to make PO. Murphy: I really don't know what to say in this case. Maybe, it's because of excellent games from Foyle, who averaged 2.5 blk and 7.3 rebounds in 4 games, and Richardson, who averaged 9.3 rebounds in 4 games. Maybe, it's because everybody played extra hard to fill Murphy's game. Or, Murphy could have been the problem all along. Four games are just too short to determine whether Murphy is a problem or a solution, and Richardson will not rebound 9.3 per game. But, for 4 games, we really took their 4 and 5 out of the game. Stay tuned...
