Well if that don't beat all. [sarcasm]It sure does make a whole lot of sense why Mullin states that he will be "standing pat" with what he has -- clearly this team is primed to make a serious playoff push.[/sarcasm]
We all saw it coming, after the Kings landed Artest and the Warriors did nothing. Now the Warriors are without a $5Million trade exception making it even more difficult to get a deal done. Falling to last place makes the situation more urgent for the Warriors, and takes away their position to bargain for a strong trade.
I feel like there's no hope sometimes for this franchise. But at least we don't suck as bad as last season's first half. Warriors usually play their best ball in the 2nd half of the season when they're out of playoff contention.
It's hard because when they play well, and everyone is contributing (which is rare) I think to myself "Yeah, this group can get it done. I like it." But it's fool's gold. Maybe in a few years, if Biedrins puts on another 20 pounds of muscle and learns how to avoid fouls, the Warriors will have a good center. But right now, they have one of the worst starting centers in the league with Adonal Foyle, and he barely flirts with 6' 10". I'd vote for him for Governor of California in a heartbeat, but I'd never vote him into the starting line-up. The Warriors will never be a legitimate threat with Adonal as the starter. But Biedrins isn't quite ready. He is 7 feet though, and I personally love what he might be able to bring. If he can bulk up and get smart, I'd be more than happy with him starting. So, as of right now, the Warriors need a big man. Why the hell did Mully come out a month ago and say "Oh yeah, changers are going to be made, we need a big man, a front court player, and we're just not getting it done inside. No one is untouchable." And then he comes out this month with "We're happy with what we have." Really, his words are just a bunch of BS. He could come out today and say "There's no way we're making any trades" and then land Shaq tomorrow. I don't know if GS wants to make the playoffs. That might not be their goal. But if it is, they absolutely must find some way to get a large, legitimate center. It's probably impossible to move Foyle, becuase who the hell would want his fat-a$$ contract? The Warriors also need a true ball-handler to come off the bench. As clutch as D-Fish has been lately, he is not a good point guard. He is slow, has sub-average handles, and runs a terrible fast break. He is also a poor decision maker. But he has been absolutely clutch, no doubt. The Warriors need an A+ ball handler off the bench. I don't care if he can shoot, rebound, defend, whatever. Only dribble, call plays, and pass the ball. Exceptionally. If only Aaron Miles could have gained some confidence and asserted himself. He could be a terrific PG for that role. I'd much rather have a guy who won't turn it over, can break a full-court press on his own, knows the plays, can dribble all day with his eyes closed, and makes quick passes, over a guy who always tries to score, jacks up threes without a single pass first, and tries to draw fouls on fast breaks rather than pass to the open man -- ala D-Fish. Right now this team sucks.
The Idea of that Pierce and Dickau would fit the team well, because Monta can be groomed at the 1 and 2 and Dickau could be a solid 1 off the bench. Plus it gets a dead eye goto shooter at the 3. Too bad the exception is gone now.
YES!!! I dont have to hear that last place crap anymore!!! NOBODY CAN USE IT ON ME !!! (for the time being)...
