    false alarm

Sorry, False Alarm. Pierce fouled out with 50 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. They lost it in double overtime, but a hell of game.

Pierce was simply awesome...as was Lebron by the way...hard one to lose but i was very proud of the way we played with a depleted roster...No Al...no Perk and Wally World on one leg...If only we had a bench...

It was a very enjoyable game. That dunk by LeBron on Delonte West was monsterous. I loved that Pierce fake on Eric Snow when he got that three point play (I think it was 4th quarter).

Just one more example of how the C's can't win the close ones and that PP needs more help than he's got.

2 previous wins were over poor teams and the Cavs were only 12-11 in the games since Hughes went down. We went one step up the ladder, in terms of competition, and couldn't get it done. Disappointing, to say the least.

I am amazed however that it even got that far. If you were a Celtic fan watching the first half, it was a horror show for most of the half.

the real tragic thing is that media maggots are going to use this to actually RAG on Pierce. They're already hinting in the globe and herald that Pierce isnt good enough to be the head man on a winnning team because no matter how many points he scores they still lose.

the man scored 50 points. they didnt lose because hes not good enough to lead them to win

in media res (all star break)

Yeah, you're correct about the media judging Pierce for putting up 50 and still losing. The problem is that it's even more inaccurate than usual this time. The Celts had no bench at all. Raef had five fouls by the third quarter, and there were times that Pierce was guarding Ilgauskas. Scalabrine submitted his usual stinker. West was good (but not great) and Wally was terrible for the whole first half; apparently one of his legs doesn't work. Gomes was not as good as usual, his hands appeared to be bad on the boards. No idea why this was.
The game was only close because the Cavs turned into total dogs, but man was it fun to listen to. The "posterize" dunk by Lebron was a charge. I watched it about forty different times. It was close, but it was a charge. Not that it wasn't awesome to watch.

I'm not going to try to speculate as to what "could have been". Who knows how the game would have changed, given different personel. Someone else could have gone off for the Cavs as a result of different matchups.

I think the C's probably would have been better off going into the game with more of thier key personel available, but as far as winning the game if they had been there, I'm not going to try to justify that one.

I think Scalabrine is going to be a great learning experience for Danny though. I'm upset that it took such a stupid deal, and such a terrible player for him to learn it, but remember, this deal was made entirely on Ainge's whackadoo brain-typing.
Now we see Ricky traded, and he was the flagship for that enterprise, clearly proving that Danny is learning that brain-typing is no way to manage a multi-hundred million dollar business.
Scalabrine was a stupid project, and Ainge has pretty clearly seen, it was a really stupid project, and a failure at that.
I just hope someone is advising Ainge about just how really stupid a failure this project was, because I don't want this to happen again.

amen! I realllllllllllllllllly hope Ainge finally smartens up and stops basing all his personel decisions entirely on the advice of his "brain doctor" , who by the way, is not a real doctor

Agreed. With Ricky gone and Scal the last vestige of the "brain doctor," I think we can expect things to change a bit. Thank Goodness.

By the way, Piggy, welcome back.

thanks! I know I have a tendancy to dissapear for months at a time but I always love to talk hoops and this is as good a place as any on the internet to do it! Just wish (as always) that the celtics board was more active but thats up to us to ensure!

but yeah, you would hope that Danny has realized by now that his precious quack shrink guy is worthless. But then you also would have hoped that he would have realized that signing big slow sissies with no lift and bad hands to 5 year contracts is a bad idea after the mark blount debacle

Let's call Scalabrine what he is...that guy at any game who simply cannot play. He spazzes out and acts offended whenever anybody mocks him, because he knows deep down that he's terrible. That's the introspective part that the doc was talking about. By the way, I love bashing Scalabrine.

Also, he makes me think of Billy Joe Cuthbert from "The Life" ads.
