I'm probably in the minority here, but to me Memphis is one of the few teams that might actually benefit from having Franchise around. Sure, he's a selfish and low percentage baller, but can also be really, really damaging on his day (remember his first few seasons in Houston).

Gasol is a star, but to me Memphis have always lacked a real 'x-factor'. They're a solid, unspectacular team who is always going to be around the mark for the playoffs, but never any further. They need to take a risk and get a potential match-winner into the backcourt - maybe Francis isn't the answer, but I can also see why Jerry would look to take that sort of risk.

I don't doubt the sheer talent of the guy and if he came the talent base of our team would rise considerably, but he is a cancer, a sook and a guy who burned this franchise once before.

If we were to get him obviously Lorenzon Wright's expiring deal would be the main factor, but to make the money work we'd need to throw in either Mike Miller or Shane Battier.
Shane isn't going anywhere so it'd be Mike Miller. I'm not a fan, but he does give us something different, a scoring punch and energy, so i'd be loathe to lose that unless Francis was totally committed to coming here and helping the team win.

If we do end up with Francis i'll support him, but i'll never like him.
