Why did we not make a push for Darko Milicic? We need a center, and although he's not proven he has the potential to be a star. We could've packaged our lottery pick this year because this draft's talent is bad (or in future) with James. Would've been nice to see Bosh and Darko together.

Darko hasen't proven anything....thats alot to give up for him.
As someone said he has not proven a single thing and hasn't earned anything but garbage minutes in almost 3 seasons. I don't think that Detroit would have given up on him so easily if they had seen anything at all from him, especially with the time and effort they put into him. James and our lottery pick (likely a top 5) is way too much for someone that is still a HUGE project and won't able to contribute anything of substance for at least another season or two.
No one really knows how good Darko Millic is. Can you imagine the fallout if he never mproved and we had both him and Araujo? Besides, even if we could give up our lottery pick (which I don't think we can), what sense does it make to give up: proven talent + lottery pick for lottery pick? Even if Darko was a #2 pick, his value is not that of a #2 pick anymore. The Magic deal made sense at least, "Oft-Injured centre + potential lottery pick, for lottery pick + talented fan favourite point guard.
The Pistons didn't give Milicic away for nothing. They got an expiring contract and a lottery pick. And shipped out the frantic PG Arroyo and Milicic, who will never get playing time behind Wallaces. I still think we should've offered something for Milicic, because who knows if James will sign with us next season, we don't know that for sure.
Yeh i think Darko is a good gamble, he's still only 20. The pistons were looking for an expiring contract so they can resign BEN, the raps likely could of made an offer surrounding trade a. davis.

If they negotiated some form of lottery protection, i'd be cool with it. Davis is worth more than cato just because his expiring contract is a whole lot larger. I don't see the raps signing any Premier F.A this summer nor do i think the draft class is especially outstanding or deep.
I really wanna see Darko show some signs of being an NBA player.. With that said, I don't see him having as great of a chance succeeding in Toronto as opposed to Orlando.. Dwight's a better partner for him than Bosh is.. Mainly because Dwight's more D and Darko's probably more of an offensive player.. I think he'd get more looks playing with Dwight (and his lack of offense) and right now, that's what he needs to show whether he's even a fifth of the player he was hyped up to be..
You guys could of had him but you didn't want to give up Mike James in the deal. would of been Arroyo Darko for James pick
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">You guys could of had him but you didn't want to give up Mike James in the deal. would of been Arroyo Darko for James pick</div> 1. Mike James is light years ahead of Arroyo, at least this season. 2. Contracts don't match. 3. We want nothing to do with Arroyo's contract. 4. It's highly unlikely that we're trading our own pick. 5. Darko is not worth it.
