So I am watching Inside the NFL! Costas ask if the Packers continue to struggle should they put in Aaron Rodgers and see what they got and Cris Collinsworth said absolutely! What is Collinsworht thinking. I mean I can see why but as long as Favre is here I think he should be the guy. Rodgers didn' exactly out perform Brett in preseason and practice. So after that I turn on the Best Dam Sports Show Period and the same question comes up! Rodney Peete then says. Yes and he thinks that Aaron Rodgers will become the starter by week 10 or so. That is about where my head exploded. Salley came in and said Green Bay owes it to Favre to keep him the starter. Then they showed Favre mentioning he doesn't know whats going on or whats going to happen. Is there something going on behind close doors. Is TT forcing Favre and Sherman out of Green Bay. Does he want a riot in Green Bay? These are questions that come to mind when someone ask if the Packers would CUT BRETT FAVRE! Thank God everyone had the brains to say no but I thought to myself what if that would happen. As a PACKER FAN I would want to run TT out of town but again you see it happen. Emmit Smith and Jerry Rice were both CUT. Yikes! Thoughts........
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (N_Burleson4life)</div><div class='quotemain'>I know. It's not like Favre is having a bad season. It's the f'n D that sucks.</div> Again I beg to differ. The defense is currently in the middle of the pack at #16. It's also currently ranked 14th in pts allowed. It's the lack of a rushing attack and a big play threat at WR thats hurting. Favre is and always was careless with his throws but it's always payed off but now it's not. Things aren't spinning in are direction. The Vikes got a good roll last week maybe the Pack can get one this week.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (JustBry07)</div><div class='quotemain'>Didn't you hear? Favre is planning to announce his retirement in the next few weeks.</div> No-No-No Thats not what he said in the press conference yesterday. He said he could walk away now and having accomplished so much and be fine with it. Faver won't quit in the middle of the season unless the organization forces him out which god I hope not.
No. It was breaking news, Favre plans to announce retirement. You really didn't see it, I thought it would be big news in GB?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (JustBry07)</div><div class='quotemain'>No. It was breaking news, Favre plans to announce retirement. You really didn't see it, I thought it would be big news in GB?</div> They're still using the poney express. :cheesey:
Favre's not going to retire during the season and they're not going to bench him, either. That's just ridiculous. Collinsworth is an idiot and Dan Marino and Cris Carter agree with me... It's Favre's job until he decides to quit. As Cris Carter put it, "Brett Favre is NFL Royalty."

Though I think this is it for #4.
I was quoting Cris Carter... Take it up with him. And yes, Favre is on the decline. But wouldn't you rather have Favre QB'ing your team this year rather than, say, Joey Harrington? Brooks Bollinger? Kyle Orton? Trent Dilfer? Tim Rattay? Kurt Warner? Drew Bledsoe? JP Losman? David Carr? The list goes on and on... He may not be the "Favre of old," but he's still more than capable of being a good NFL QB.

Yes a little but not as much as most think. The team is on decline. I still think if Favre were on a team with the talent like the Eagles he could take them deep in the playoffs but with the lack of a big play threat on offense and no running game is what hurting the team.
Favre is the packers best chance to win, but i think those guys were talking about if favre was doing bad in on game, Rodgers would come in for a series. But if Sherman allowed Rodgers to start this season, with favre on the bench that would be the stupiudest thing to do
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I'm not to sold on Favre on decline.</div> That's what I meant. Favre is certainly not in "3 Time MVP Form" right now, but he's still a solid QB. His arm is still really strong. He still moves pretty well in the pocket. I'm sure he hurts a lot more on Tuesday morning when he gets up, but he can still get it done. Being 36 years old will do that to you... Rich Gannon won the league MVP and took the Raiders to the Superbowl when he was 38 with a noodle arm and solid decision making alone. I didn't see anyone telling him to hang it up. Favre's got the arm. He's just got to adjust his decision making a bit. It's going to be hard to abandon the "gunslinger mentality," but I think he can make the adjustments and improve his game.
I didn't see these reports, so I am only going by what you reported. IMO, Rodgers should not replace Favre with the purpose of having a better chance to win. If that was these reporters intent, I disagree with them. However, if these reporters expect Favre to retire at year's end, and the Packers are out of the playoffs by week 10ish, then it is not beyond reason for them to recommend that the young guy get some playing time for the future? Make sense? As far as Favre goes, I think he is in decline, but I still think he is a good QB. I would ditto most of what Pack Attack said. The biggest concern is that he is having trouble adjusting his playing style and admitting that he can't do all the things the same as he used to. That doesn't make him a bad QB, but "a man's got to know his limitations". After all, you don't see Bledsoe scrambling out of the pocket on a run all the time.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (bakes781)</div><div class='quotemain'>Oh please. Favre may be a God in the midwest, but to everyone else he's clearly on the decline.</div> Whoa...careful who you group in this Farve worshipping group. The midwest is a rather large area.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BearsFan1)</div><div class='quotemain'>I am sure farve has some sort of deal worked out.</div> haha never gets old if i were favre i'd retire too, the Packers are not winning a Superbowl or winning anytime soon. They already got another QB in a draft behind him, its time for Favre. Spend time with ur family and maybe come back as a coach or an analyst i mean hes gotta be better than the bozo analysts that the NFL has now
Green Bay's problems run much deeper than Brett Favre. But when you're as talented and have been in the league for as long as Brett has, things seem to come back to you. He can't carry the team as he once did. The offensive line is horrible. Ahman Green would be a 1500 yard back in any of the top 20 offensive line teams in the league. Without a run game, Green Bay won't be successful. As for that bonehead, Steeler hater, Collinsworth..... moron. Ego-maniac.... has to be right. I doubt Favre retires.... until the end of the season. Green Bay has a few good games left in them.
