I think he tried, but was off a little and was willing to let one of the younger players win. He might've tried to just phone it in, instead of trying his hardest like he did last year. I blame Cheryl Miller for making him overconfident.
I thought he would win until I saw that he missed his jumpshots. Like Charles Barkley kept saying that is the hardest part of the whole skills challenge.
That might be the first time Steve Nash has missed 5 18-foot jumpers in a row like that. He almost never misses that shot when he's open, in game.
I doubt he was trying to phone it in, since he was leaving everytime he shot, expecting it to have gone in. I didn't believe it, not he can miss, but that many times, I wasn't sure if it was happening. That's the area where he should've been the best.
