<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe Bryant consistently had the largest crowd of reporters around his table during the NBA All-Star Game's media session Friday.

Popular lines of questioning were Bryant's 81-point game and the next Team USA, but there was also interest in how he is handling playing for a mediocre Lakers team with an uncertain future.

Bryant said he and Coach Phil Jackson aren't that uncertain about it.

"When Phil and I have talked about the future of this team, we both feel like we're not that far away," Bryant said. "One piece, two pieces, maybe. So the vision that we have for the team may be a little different from the direction other people may see us going in. As long as we're on the same page, we're fine."

About the salary-cap space the Lakers will have in 2007 to sign free agents, Bryant said: "I get calls every day from players wanting to come out to L.A. and play. If Mitch (Kupchak) was to ask me about it, I would just tell him and let him handle it from there."

Bryant didn't name the players calling him, but he did say several former teammates called with congratulations after his 81-point game: Caron Butler, Chucky Atkins, Ruben Patterson and Tyronn Lue. Bryant also said Baron Davis called. [READ]</div>

Who saw Kobe last night at the Shooting Stars thing?

Dude makes the half court shot in ONE TRY, and the three pointer in 2.

    The man is simply unbelievable.

Thanks to Lisa Leslie for screwing up our chances of winning though.

Kobe did a good job of making himself look like a good guy when they were showing that bit about him and that little boy from N.O. That would only help his chances of getting people to have an interest to play with him. Not to mention, people know that the Lakers really only need 1 or 2 pieces to make them championship contenders.

You are seeing a guy who has elevated his play to another level... yet again. Check out the streamed video of the West All-Stars practice on NBA.com.. Kobe was also the West player to hit the half-court shot as well. The guy has incredible range.

If we would have fired mitch in the summer and made Phil Jackson the GM which he wanted to become so bad. And Hired Larry Brown as the coach... Phil looks more like a GM more than a coach dont u think. I could be wrong. lol

Interesting, I hope Andre Iguodala isn't one of those players who wants to play with the Lakers, I notice him and Kobe get along pretty good.

Kobe really pushed Laker management to try and get Iggy in last year's draft. He's really big on the kid. They share the same agent, and in the offseason, they train together. Iggy isn't going anywhere now, he's going to explode this second half. Watch him put about about 16, 6, and 3.

I'm curious to know which infraction of the rules caused for his post to be edited?

It's called BAITING. You made comments about Chucky Atkins, who isn't relevant to the Lakers or this thread, and it was obvious to try and get under Laker fans skins. If you want to take up this matter, PM me, don't handle it over the board.

Hold on im gonna challenge you on why you deleted my post and i think other posters will agree, i'n not one to stir stuff up, but i find the laker forum the most moderated section of JBB. all i posted was chucky atkins comments form last season about he said kobe was being "the gm" and how he was heavily criticized by laker fans for what he said. this whole thread is about kobe acting as GM practically, by fieding calls form players. it is relevant to this thread.

all im saying is there's a whole lot of unessecary censorship here. and my message wasn't baiting. the last time i checked forums were for free discussions. and i was the one who posted that not chucky.

Chucky apologized for those comments. Let's move on from it. Kobe deserves to have input on the player movement, all franchise players do.
