<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Carter Gets Nod As All-Star Starter 18th February, 2006 - 3:54 am Seattle Times - Detroit coach Flip Saunders, who commands the East team, will replace Indiana's injured Jermaine O'Neal with New Jersey's Vince Carter. "The starters have always been a fan vote and Vince has probably gotten more votes for the last seven years almost than anybody that's played the game," Saunders said. "He had a lot of votes this year." Among Eastern Conference players, Carter was sixth in the fan balloting with 1,065,464 votes. Saunders considered Detroit's Rasheed Wallace and Toronto's Chris Bosh because they play the same position as O'Neal. "I didn't go by, I'm going to take a 6-11 guy and put him in there," he said. "I just thought he would be a good guy to start. I didn't want to start any of my guys because I'm going to bring them all in at the same time."</div> http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...l_star_starter/
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phiLA:</div><div class="quote_post">perfect reason why fans shouldnt vote for starters</div> He wasn't voted in by the fans, this was Flip's decision. Plus it's not like he doesn't deserve to be an All Star look at how he is carrying New Jersey this year.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AllNet:</div><div class="quote_post">the first unit off the bench Billups Hamilton Pierce Sheed Ben</div> So Chris Bosh is relegated to 11th or 12man duties?? Its just my opinion but Bosh is more deserving of his allstar spot than several players "above" him if that list comes to be fact. i'll be dissapointed if he doesnt get his chance, in my opinion he's more deserving of this allstar appearance then Vince Carter, but for some reason Flips and idiot. Oh well.
Nah, i think VC will start, i highly highly highly highly doubt that CB4 will start. He's young and has many years ahead of him, imagine putting in sheed, ewwwww.
Oh please.....nobody wants to watch Chris Bosh post up and make a jump shot or hook shot. Nobody wants to watch Sheed talk trash. The reason why Vince Carter is starting is because he is exciting, as we all know that. Chris Bosh will get his chances to start when he develops into one of the league's best big man, but he hasn't reached that level yet.

Bosh is exciting too at times, but only in real game situations.
Carter is a great player that always shows us something special in The All-Star Game. I was dissapointed when he wasn't named a starter.
