He's sick due to the rough change of temperature from memphis to houston. Here in Spain they say he's got amigdalitis but he'll play anyways.

Here in Spain they say he's got amigdalitis but he'll play anyways.</div> Yeah, I just read an article in the Commercial Appeal about it. Here's a link - <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Star stuck: Ill Gasol misses Saturday fun Grizzlies ace knows city, country watching By Don Wade Contact February 19, 2006 HOUSTON -- By now, Pau Gasol is used to being the front man. For his team -- the Grizzlies -- and for his country -- Spain. In that sense, the 7-footer is always being double-teamed. "The fans are all demanding and need me to do good," said Gasol, who is on the Western Conference All-Star team as a reserve for tonight's NBA All-Star Game at the Toyota Center. "In Spain, the fans have got a more intense feeling about me, identifying with themselves. They expect me to do great every time because I'm like the big, big player. "But also in Memphis, there will keep being higher expectations. The (better) I get, the more that's going to be asked of me." </div> http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/grizzl...4479577,00.html Apparently he's still questionable for tonight's game. I really hope he gets better, not just for the sake of the team, but for his own sake. This is the biggest thing that's happened in his career to date, and he's got to be penned up in a hotel room the whole time. If he has to stay in bed for the All-Star game, it's just not going to be that fun for me to watch.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J-Calderon_8:</div><div class="quote_post">Don't worry VC he's gonna be there. Why didn't they say anything in nba.com?</div> I get the impression that he's going to be there too. He's done too much this first half of the season to let a cold keep him from getting the recognition he deserves. As for nba.com not having any news on it, that could just be another sign that it's just a minor illness. You'd think that if it were serious enough to sideline him from the game they'd jave something up by now.
I was happy with Pau's performance, all things considered. He was obviously still under the weather and playing on a team with Kobe and T-Stat he was hardly ever going to get a look. The 12 rebounds in 15 minutes was nice though. BTW I believe it was the flu, rather than a cold.

The twelve rebounds is really impressive, but he didn't really fight for any of them. They all just kind of fell to him. The 0 pts is what stands out to me. The only other player who didn't score was Ben Wallace. However, I don't really think that has anything to do with Gasol's talent level but rather has everything to do with the All-Star game being completely guard dominated. With Tony Parker turning it over on every posession and the Kobe/T-Mac tandem combining for 1,000 shots, it's kind of hard to even get scoring opportunities, much less convert on them. Hopefully next year he is in full health for the game and comes away with the MVP...
