Orlando Magic , Fran Vasquez I had the privilege of watching Vasquez in person in December in Girona, Spain. I cannot say how he?s played all season because that was the only time I could watch him. I can say this: he has a lot of potential. But that?s his problem as much as his gift. Potential. Some players live up to it, some players don?t. When I saw him, he looked lost on the court. He could not defend the pick & roll, being brought out to the top of the key and was barely near the basket. On offense, he looked lost when the point guard didn?t go on his side for his pick. He stood in one place, watching the ball move and did not know where to go. He can play, but the Magic either need to bring him over as soon as possible or give up hope that he?s not coming over. Vasquez has long arms and a shot that goes out to the European 3-point line, which is over 20 feet. When he got the ball in the post, he was immediately double teamed, so it seemed like his opponents respected his low-post game. I don?t know what else to say about him. He just needs to develop and gain some muscle. I hope he can come over and produce, but if he stays in his home country, then the Magic made a mistake. I think they made the right pick, but only if he comes over. I think he will, but the jury?s still out. I guess we?ll see.
thanks for the update, we need him to do well there either so he would want to come here or increase his market value, maybe joe dumars will gamble on him...
