<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">HOUSTON - Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Allen Iverson is upset. He thinks his 76ers teammate Andre Iguodala should have won Saturday's dunk contest.

The 6-foot-6 Iguodala lost to 5-9 Nate Robinson by one point in a dunk-off. Robinson didn't pull his last dunk off until the 14th try.

Iverson contends that the judges purposely forced the contest in to a tiebreaker to extend the fun for the fans.

"It's still not sitting right with me," he said Sunday. "Just because he's a young guy and that's something that he wanted for himself, for his family, for his people in Philadelphia and for it not to happen it was bad.

And the way it happened, I think he deserved to win."

Others were upset that Robinson was allowed so many chances to complete his dunk.

But Kenny Smith, one of the judges of the event, said he only cared about dunks that were completed. He discounted attempts, so didn't penalize Robinson for needing so many tries before getting his title-winning dunk down.

"The final dunk, Nate Robinson's dunk was better," he said.

Commissioner David Stern said the league always looks at ways to improve All-Star Saturday night, but thinks "the right rule is not to penalize them."

Former champion Vince Carter wasn't interested in offering his opinion.

"I leave that alone, it's not my business," he said. "I don't want to hear from the NBA."

After the event Iguodala said he "wasn't too worried about it," but Iverson is concerned that that isn't the case.

"I don't think he's even going to want to do it again," Iverson said.</div>

I find David Stern's quote to be hilarious! So, for the past dunk contest he was in favor of penalizing participants, but not this year? [IMG]

The only reason why all the other NBA players aren't saying something is because they dont want to listen to Stern and the rest of the NBA and get fined. Good think we got AI who has some *****. The dunk contest was a joke this year, and I wouldnt blame Iggy if he doesnt do it again.

In a couple of days, Kobe will come out and stick up for Iggy. Kobe and Iggy are very good friends, probably closer than Iggy and Iverson.

I agree. I was surprised that Kobe had not said anything up till now, but it is just a matter of time. They work out together in the offseason, and they are very, very close friends.

Now, as long as AI2 doesn't go to the Lakers, I'm good!

I wouldn't say the dunk contest was a joke... it was one of the best in recent history, but the league and the judges ruined it with their horrible and biased voting.

I'm glad someone came out and let it be known. I understand if you miss a dunk a couple times, you should not be penalized. However 14 times is to much! What are you doing in the contest if your own dunks are to hard for you? It is your own fault, and if it goes to the extreme like in Nate's case, something should have been done about it.

Yeah, and everyone hated on Chris Anderson last year, thats what gets me. They all booed him off the floor and the analysts were laughing at him telling him "JUST FINISH UP!!" and Somebody go take the ball away from him". None of that for Nate tho, did Spud Webb get 20+ tries for his dunks? I dont think so.

Wait a second, they didn't penalize players for missing dunks last season either. Chris Anderson attempted one dunk at least 10 times before just giving up. I don't understand how you can say they just changed the rule this year when it's the second year it has been in effect.

No, the rule stated that a player would have two attempts before being penalized and moving on to the next participant. They defined an "attempt" as a player actually trying to do the dunk, and missing it (i.e. the ball bouncing off the rim because the guy missed).

Andersen couldn't get the lob right... he only actually missed the "attempt" (as defined) once.

Nate also couldn't get the lob right, but he also missed the dunks twice.

I don't like the new rule. Why change it after so many years. If they changed it few years earlier, J-Rich would've won the dunk contest 3 years in a row. He only got to attempt his last dunk like 3-4 times (360 in-between the legs)

I thought Nate Robinsons dunks were 10 times better and that he deserved to win, considering they took much more skill since he is only 5'9".

Noooo, not another dunk contest thread.

But anyways, Milt Palacio's should have won.

    Correction: he's 5'7".

I'm completely and utterly winded by the fact that [what seems like] a Philadelphia 76ers fan would say this...

    1. I didn't bash him.
    2. He is 5'7". If you're too blind to realize the following facts, then you're dead to me:

    a) Nate Robinson has said in multiple interviews that he's shorter than what he says he is. See point [IMG].
[IMG] Mostly all short athletes tend to exagerrate certain aspects of their resume, especially their height. See Jack Wilson, shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates: he's listed at 6'1" but he's told Dan Patrick that he's no taller than 5'10".

Get your facts straight before you bash someone.

Yes, Nate Robinson is shorter than what they "officially" list him as... same with Iverson. They list him at what, 6'0" or 6'1"? He's actually 5'10", or 5'11" at best.
