Do you think that there are any way All Star Weekend can be improved? If so state your ideas!

One idea I've always had, is that there should be a 1 on 1 contest. They would play it based on positions (PG's play PG's and Centres play Centres) and the fans would vote in your favorites. Winner would be first to 7 or 11 and and their would be a monetary prize like the other events. Wouldn't it be great to see Kobe vs. Vince or Iverson vs. anyone at the PG?

That's a pretty good idea I've never thought of it but that would probably be awesome seing AI vs. D Wade.

Players should get 5 attempts at the most, in the dunk contest and a player should never need to use them all.

Easy, get more than 4 participants for the dunk contest.

Don't have commercials ever 5 minutes

Get rid of some singing, dancing. Nobody tunes in to watch that, people want to watch the game.

They need to get the NBA dunk contest back to the glory days. They need to do whatever it takes to get the big names back in it. I mean guys like Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Jason Richardson forget the whole rising star thing. We can still get a lot of great dunks without having big names in it which makes me wonder how far the best in the business could take it if the dunk contest would actually mean something. Also make a minimum of three attempts. No 14 dunk attempts, or any of that stuff. Or maybe better yet have a time clock for them to hit their dunk maybe 60 seconds or something since a lob does not count as a shot attempt. Also they need to have some type of rating system for the way judges go about giving points this years contest was a disgrace.

    Dunk Contest Improvement

    1) I know exactly how to fix the Slam Dunk Contest judging. All they need to do, is judge similar to how snowboarding does with the 'Best Trick' event. Instead of having cumulative scores, each snowboarder's best trick carries over for the entire contest. This way the best actual dunk wins and also allows the person with the best leading dunk to try something even crazier instead of playing it safe because they don't want to lower their cumulative average.

    2) Force the best dunkers to actually compete like they do with the other events.

    3) Get rid of the stupid pieces of paper for the judges to vote with. Give them a touch screen to enter their score so the other judges can't see and adjust their scores. Yes that means you Kenny Smith.

    3 Point Contest

    1) Bring back the split-screen head 2 head shoot out. Remember that?

    Shooting Stars

    1) Please get rid of this entirely. This has become a lame gimmick to cross promote the WNBA.

    All Star Game

    1) DO NOT LET FANS VOTE for the STARTERS!
    2) USA All Stars v. International All Stars ... I think the NBA is ready to take this step.

    Skills Contest

    1) Create one for the Big men to compete in. You could have rebounding drills, shot blocking drills, and power dunking by using weighted medicine balls.

I agree with BKS about the dunk contest. They need to up the ante so that big name players might be willing to participate, although knowing the NBA that is very unlikely. The judging also needs to be fixed, as does the amount of attempts and/or amount of time a guy has to complete a dunk. This year's contest was one of the best in recent memory, and the judges completely ruined it.

The 1-on-1 idea is great, but the players would never do it. They wouldn't want to be shown up on a big stage.

How about create 3 seperate size classes for the dunk contests, so size won't be a factor in the dunk contest like,

    Small division: Dunkers like Nate.

Medium division: Josh Smith, J-rich, Desmond Mason, Vince Carter.

Large division: Amare Stoudamire, Hakim Warrick.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Small division: Dunkers like Nate.</div>

Thats the problem. Nate would be the only one in the small division. Ok well maybe Francis too but that's it.

Great idea on the size divisions, Ming, but don't you think it'd be hard to find big guys willing enough to do it year in and year out? You have Amare and Warrick, but you'd be lucky to get guys like Garnett and Kenyon to do it, wouldn't you?

I do like the sound of the 1-on-1 competitions. It would bring alot of viewers and overall would be very fun to watch.

They should have a three-point contest for 7-footers (excluding Dirk). I can see Shaq winning it! Nah... probably Yao.

In the dunk competition, there should be three dunks per round, with the top two scores counting. Also, a maximum of 3 dunk attempts per dunk. This would allow room for error but would also prevent another Nate/Birdman catastrophe.
