I've been trying to figure out why the Rockets would deal T-Mac. Here's some of the rumors floating around Houston lately ... This is complete speculation on my part. 1) JVG-Dawson alleged feud. Could it be JVG found out T-Mac is going to be traded causing the rift? 2) TMac has been dealing with personal issues. No one knows what exactly it is, but maybe he asked to be traded and is dealing with a lot of guilt and potential backlash from Houston loyalists? 3) Is Dawson concerned TMac's back won't hold out much longer? 4) Did TMac tell Dawson he plans to exercise his ETO and told Dawson to get something for him now and gave a short list of teams he would accept a trade to? I still find this rumor farfetched even though stranger things have happened. Even for the Lakers it's hard to imagine them making a blockbuster deal at this point in the season. They've never done a major trade after the ASG, and with Kupchak's track record, it's hard to picture him pulling this off. There's no way it's just Odom either. Who else will the Lakers have to give up? Mihm? Kwame? Bynum? I'm not sure if PJax is comfortable parting ways with size without getting size in return. If you're the Lakers you have to really wonder why the Rockets are giving up on TMac this fast. His back problems are a major concern and if he goes down with injury they have no flexbility financially to build around Kobe.

I mean, the Rockets are enamored with T-Mac, if he is traded for ANYONE (Yes, we're biased enough .. No Kobe) in the league, most of Houston would bring out the pitchforks. It seems these "problems" McGrady is having is causing everyone to go insane. Simmons. Rosen. Now Vescey .. Seriously, the National Media just likes messing with us. Not to mention that entire TNT/ESPN hate-fest against us.
Apparently this was just a rumor. The Magic and Knicks are almost finished on a deal that would ship Francis to New York for Crawford, Taylor and a player to be named. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SI.com - The Knicks and Magic are close to a deal that would send Steve Francis to New York for a package of players, according to two league sources. Details of the trade were still being worked out, according to one of the sources, who emphasized that it had yet to be completed. The Magic apparently have decided to wait until the last minute before Thursday's trade deadline to see if any better offers come up. If the trade goes through, it would represent yet another high-profile acquisition for Knicks president Isiah Thomas, who already has added Larry Brown, Quentin Richardson, Eddy Curry and Jalen Rose this season alone. The 6-foot-3 Francis has averaged 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists over his seven-year NBA career. He would join Stephon Marbury to form a backcourt with a combined five All-Star appearances. The Knicks apparently are ready to send three players, including two regular members of the rotation, to Orlando in the deal. Neither team's officials will comment on any ongoing trade talks, but it is likely Jamal Crawford and Maurice Taylor would be included. The Magic are in a rebuilding mode, and the 6-5 Crawford is considered an intriguing young talent who would be able to step in and help fill the team's hole at shooting guard. Taylor would likely be included to help make the salaries match Francis' $13.7 million a year. </div> http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/392..._francis_trade/
That would crush my thoughts of seeing Franchise in a Laker uni. Oh well though. That's what happens when we have Mitch Kupcake as a GM.
If the Rockets were to trade McGrady, which by the way the city of Houston loves him would really surprise me, they would be smart to wait until next year. The team has been struggling with injuries all year, and haven't really had much time to show what they can do when healthy. I think they would deserve a chance to go out there next year and see what they could do before anything major should happen.
Odom confirmed in tonights game agains Portland that he will not be leaving the Lakers. This rumor is not true.
