<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And that brings us to Magloire. On the surface, the Bucks wouldn't even entertain offers for him. The 6-foot-11, 259-pound Magloire has been the ideal inside, defensive presence the Bucks have long coveted. Magloire is a highly-reliable rebounder and, at times, a great one. That, by itself, makes Magloire attractive trade bait. That was why several teams besides the Bucks actively tried to acquire him from the Hornets just prior to the season. So, why would the Bucks even consider moving Magloire? One reason, the obvious reason: money. Magloire's contract expires after next season - he makes $8.3 million this season and next season - and he's looking for some team to show him the money. Lots of money. Some NBA insiders claim Magloire's agent, Arn Tellum, wants to land his client a "max'' contract. And Tellum, unquestionably one of the best agents in the business, might pull it off. But Tellum isn't likely to hammer out a deal with the Bucks.</div> Full Article
nobody is dumb enough to give him max dollars. he's just asking for it now, so that it will plant a seed, and make sure that he gets paid. he has to know he's not a max contract player. his agent probably wants to be sure he gets his too
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Eclipse:</div><div class="quote_post">He's definitely not worth max money. He can rebound but his offense needs work. 7-8 mill max</div> Agreed, I guess we shouldn't go after him if his agent wants max-type money. Maybe Nazr, Pryzbilla or Nene.
I'd rather have Przybilla... Brings toughness, hustle, shot blocking and rebounds.. he's a legit Center..

But a young centre is definitly a team need. And a guy whose 27, averages. 10 and 10 in 30 mpg + a former all star isn't a bad place to start.

why is it whenever anyone is mentioning mags in this forum its "overrating him" or "over hyping him" ? he's a SOLID center...a 10 and 10 guy...AND he's a hometown kid...he seems as good a fit as any for our center spot...which right now is in dire straits. you get what you pay for...pryzbilla isnt going to come cheap, at least i cant see him being much or any less then 9 mill a year. and both him and mags are better then nene. not to mention, nene is a little undersized to play center...unless he starts playing like ben wallace. again...im not "caught up in the hype" i just think he's as good a fit as any at center. a guy who avg's 10 and 10 without having a single play a game run for him, who's from toronto certainly seems like a good fit for our team.
Well Magloire will be 28 by the end of the season, and he has another season under contract with the Bucks. So he will be 29 by the time he gets to Toronto via free agency. I just don't want to give a near max contract to someone averaging 10 and 10, which is lower than what Dampier was averaging (12 ppg and 12 rpg) before he got his huge 75 mill contract. To me max contract like numbers is too high, maybe 7-9 mill a year is reasonable?
My seniments are echoed by DJ_Premium_Plus's post. I would want Magloire no question, but it w ould all depend on the money that he wants.

I really don't care that much about the hometown part, I know people do a lot, but as long as the guy wants to play here, I don't care whether he's a hometown guy or not. Magloire is not bad, no one is saying he is, but giving double digit millions for him is absurd. He's a good C, 10 points, 10 rebounds, big body, decent enough offense, okay defender, but he's not a high enough percentage scorer, and isn't a shot blocking presence. I really wouldn't want to put so much money into a 29 year old guy like that. There are other C's that are younger and can do the same job for cheaper, or if not cheaper, are better players. Nene is better, Przybilla is cheaper. If the Clippers weren't going to re-sign him, Kaman is also a better player.
If I remember correctly Magloire said he would be willing to give the Raptors a home town discount on his salary.
of course i dont want him here if he's going to screw our cap situation. i just think his agent is SAYING that...there is no way he'll get it. and im not talking about giving him the max NEXT year, i was talking about trying to trade for him this year. didnt happen...oh well. there's always the off-season. but certainly i dont want mags on our team for ridiculous amounts of money. but i dont know if we're going to get a center that can give us 10 rebs a game, PLUS some offence, for any less then 7 or 8 mill a year...can we?
Not a chance we can get one for less than that. Depends how much he's worth, I'm not against getting him for the right price.
jamaal went to high school with my sister at wexford for like a year before he left for eastern commerce
