<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The Orlando Magic's latest rebuilding plan that claimed veteran guard Steve Francis on Wednesday might claim veteran forward Grant Hill, who could be offered a buyout by the club. That would mean Hill could retire or play for another team that might be in better position to win. The Magic owe Hill $16.9 million next season, the last year of his original seven-year, $91 million contract. "I'm not sure Grant would want to be a part of the way this is going to go,'' a Magic official said. He also could be traded by the Magic to a team that is looking to use his salary-cap friendly, expiring contract. The New York Knicks acquired Francis for Penny Hardaway's expiring contract and forward Trevor Ariza. But Hill's contract is more valuable to the Magic, because when it comes off their books after next season, they could have about $20 million available to spend on a player in a 2007 free-agent class that includes LeBron James, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce and Mike Bibby. Hill told the Sentinel he is aware of the Magic's thinking, but did not comment further. A seven-time all-star, Hill would be in his final year of a deal he signed after arriving in a sign-and-trade with the Detroit Pistons in the summer of 2000. Hill largely has been snake-bit since coming from the Pistons, undergoing five left-ankle surgeries and then a surgery for a sports hernia last Oct. 31.</div> Source
It would be nice to see Grant get a ring before he goes out mabe this way he would be able to play for a contender..................I'm sure there are alot of teams that would like to have him.
