Some guys I'd like to see the Vikings go after next year for a head coach.

    1. Scott Linehan
    2. Mack Brown
    3. Falcons DC (dont know his name)
    4. Jim Johnson (Eagles DC, not the helmet hair desk jockey)
    5. Bob Stoops
    6. Greg Knapp
    7. Sean Payton
    8. Pete Carroll
    9. Jim Fassell
    10. Gregg Williams

There are a lot of deserving names on this list. From what I have heard, I think you can cross off Carroll. After excelling in the college ranks, many coaches want to take on the next challenge. I have heard Carroll is not like that....maybe because he's been there done that. I don't see Mack Brown moving, but I haven't heard anything about him either way. I think Payton may be in grooming for the Dallas job.

Once thing seems sure.....you guys miss Linehan.

    Stoops won't leave Oklahoma!
Brown just got a contract extension last season so he's not going anywhere. I also doubt Pete Carroll coaches again the NFL.

There are rumors that Fassell is angling his way in to the Baltimore job, which means that Billick would be available. If he is, then I would put him on that list.

I would agree that Linehan is the #1 choice if we can lure him away from Miami. It would be great to get him working with Culpepper again.

I doubt that Minny could afford Linehan. I think thats part of the reason he is in S Fla now.

Fassel is a possibility as is Gregg Williams & Ed Donatell (Falcons D Co-ord).

Childress (Philly OC) will be a hot commodity by seasons end. Rumor already has him replacing Sherman on the frozen tundra

McCombs wouldn't afford Linehan. I think Zygi will take a different approach.

The only problem with Jim Johnson though is that he's in his 60's

u know another guy who i think would be a great HC but i would hate to see him go is Donnie Henderson. A great D coordinator, was a DB coach on the Ravens and transformed a crappy 2003 Jets defense into a top 5 defense in 2004. And a good defense now. And hes a real motavator and all the guys like him. He's also i minority and they'll probably give him a shot anyway because of the rules. Great guy he'll be a great head coach someday. Maybe if Edwards ever steps down he can step up.

Greg Williams would be an interesting pick...I'd like to see what he could do. He has done wonders for Washington's defense. I wouldn't mind seeing him come over.

Of course, I'm still on the delusion that somehow Pete Carroll will leave USC.

Keep dreaming there. I'd like to see Greg Williams in Minnesota though. I think he could do a good job with them. I'd also like to see them go for that old Raiders coach. Art Shell. I think he's a lot like Denny Green but not as "crazy"
