What is your opinion on this. I feel he has done a good job on removing all those bad labels people put on him in his 2nd year. Maybe with this season, he can get back on track and be mentioned among Lebron and Wade.

He's definately improved, the guy is a beast in crunch time, and becoming one of the best clutch players in the league. He's gotten better defensively, though not a stopper, or close to by any means, but he's actually playing fairly good defense now. He's decreased his turnover rate [still averaging 3 TPG, but PER minute he's lower].

Even with that, Wade and Lebron still have a gap on him. Carmelo is comparable to Bosh from that draft who has become an All-Star and is averaging almost 23 PPG and 9 RPG himself.

hes definetly gotten better after last season, and ranks up there with wade and lebron. he is definetly a better player than both IMO in clutch situations, so i have to say, yes, he is catching up.

^^More clutch than Wade? I don't know but yes Carmelo has improved his game a lot and I think he was robbed from the All Star team. I don't htink he is on Wade and Lebron's level but he is comparable to Bosh who is becoming a star himself. Remember Melo cam out his Freshman year so he doesn't the experience a guy like DWade does.

In clutch situations, Melo is without a doubt the better of the three. Wade is the average player in clutch situations and LeBron better pass up when the game is in his hands. I think Melo needed time to adjust to the NBA and he's slowly blossoming unlike the other two who shined almost straight away. I don't think we've seen the full potential of Carmelo yet, he may grow to be better than Wade and LeBron.

Wade average in the clutch? Rookie season hitting a game winner in the playoffs. Hitting one in the garden with 0.8 left. Hitting almost 10 game winners last year and one in the all star game and another one vs. the best team in the NBA how is that average?

I believe so. One question I would pose her is this, Thinking of the overally game, how can you not place Melo up with the others?

    Complete Game:
    Perimeter
    Post
    3-pointer
    Intangibles
    Rebounding
    Defense

Where has he taken his team is another question I would ask about Melo. He hasn't gotten past the first round I believe while Wade has reached the semi's and the conference finals and that's a knock I have on Lebron. Melo is playing great and is a star but I don't think he is on Dwayne's level.

Please don't compare Carmelo's first round opponents to D-Wade's first round opponents. Denver had to face the #1 seed in Minnesota, led by MVP Kevin Garnett, and one of the most underrated perimeter defenders in the league (Hassell). Then last year, they had to face the #2 seed, which was San Antonio led by Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili, while being guarded by a top 5 defender in the league in Bruce Bowen.

Carmelo has definitely improved from previous seasons and he is without a doubt a clutch player and an all star caliber player, but still isn't on same level as Wade or Lebron.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In clutch situations, Melo is without a doubt the better of the three. Wade is the average player in clutch situations and LeBron better pass up when the game is in his hands</div>

How come everyone is 100% sure Carmelo is more clutch then Wade, and Wade is average clutch??! This has to be a joke, Wade has been clutch from the beggining his rookie year, sophomore year and this year he has been amazing in crunch time. Before Melo's game winner against T-Wolves NOBODY was talking about how clutch Carmelo was.

Wades first playoff series hits a game winner in Game 7 vs. Hornets.
Wade hit a game winner against the Jazz.
Wade hit a game winner against the Knicks.
Wade hit a game winner against Memphis.
Wade hit game winner against Nets earlier this year.
Wade game winner against Pistons, Heat down in a huge game and they overcome a 13 point deficit in the fourth because WADE scores the Heats last 17 points.
Wade in this seasons ALL STAR GAME hit a game winner.

And im sure i'm missing some, but regardless and Wade has had plenty games where when its overtime he simply takes over. Both are extremely talented players that have thrived in late game situations but Wade is without a doubt in my mind more clutch. I watch every Heat game, and what this guy does under pressure is WAY BETTER THEN AVERAGE its incredible.

He can hit three's, but his 3PT shot is really not that great. Better than Wade's, but Lebron is the best 3PT shooter.

His rebounding is actually not that impressive. Both Lebron and Wade are better rebounders, he's only decent at 5.7 RPG in 38 MPG for a SF.

Also he's not much of a playmaker/passer, but the good thing is that this year he's not a ball stopper. Actually since Karl came he's become a guy that scores more in the offense.

Both Lebron and Wade still easily trump him in terms of all-round ability.

That's really not that relevant, like you said, where has Lebron taken the Cavs? He's yet to even make the playoffs.

Wade is a very good clutch player, Carmelo is showing right now to be a top of the league clutch shooter/scorer, and Lebron is good in the 4th, and for most of the last 5 mins, but in the last 2 minutes, he's usually not so impressive. I think Lebron has gotten an underseved reputation as a clutch choker though. He's not great, but far from horrible as some people seem to percieve him as right now.

Have we seen the full potential of Wade and Lebron though? Wade has gotten a very good 17 foot mid-range jumper now, but we still haven't seen him fully develop his outside shot. All still have things to iron out on the defensive side of the ball, but outside of intangibles, and things like overall shooting, and just continuing their learning of the game, I think we've seen how these guys will be. They're all very good scorers, but Wade and Lebron are all-round guys, while Carmelo is more of just a scorer.

Look at the talent on Melo's team though they shouldn't have to face those teams. Miller, Melo, K Mart, and Camby damn give at least a 5 seed.

That's how tough the West is. They had 49 wins, and they still only got a 7th seed. Not to mention they were 17-25 before George Karl came. They went 32-8 when he took over, imagine how good they would've been from the start of the season.

I understand but that team should've had 50+ wins they're that good. Melo attitude has also been questioned at times somehting DWade has never faced. I'm not saying Melo sucks but there is no way he is on Dwayne Wade's level. Wade was an MVP candidate last year.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheTruth5:</div><div class="quote_post">Wade in this seasons ALL STAR GAME hit a game winner.</div>

I'd hardly call a simple 6 foot shot a game winner. Even LeBron can't miss a 6 foot game winning shot. Wade has missed as many clutch shots as he has hit. He shoots around 50% with game winning shots. He's missed around 3-4 shots against the Lakers. The first shot to send the first Xmas day game into OT, another semi-winning shot in that game, the one this season on Xmas day where the Heat got an offensive board and put the ball back in. Being an average shooter in clutch situations is still a prize on its own. I agree he has hit some, but he has also missed some aswell, therefore he is average. With Melo, it seems like he rarely misses.

I remember before the season started, I was comparing Wade, LeBron and Melo with some friends and we all laughed at Melo and said he isn't in the same league as the other two. However, this season, he has made me eat my words.

Any shot that wins the game is a game winner no matter how far away it's from. Anyone can miss that look at guys that miss layups. Ok 50% is amazing look at how mny game winners Kobe's missed in his career and MJ. What does what he does vs. the Lakers mean? Look at everything else besides one game.

Your saying D-Wade is average in clutch? Their is no reason why anybody should be trying to exlpain to you why your wrong right now. You ask anybody if Wade is clutch, and most knowlegdable fans will say yes. He is definitely not average. Melo and Wade are pretty even IMO. Both are great players that love playing under pressure. Melo has caught up, but LeBron and Wade are still clearly ahead of him. If he gets to the second round this season, then he could possibly be up their with LeBron again.

Re-read my post, I'm not going to state every shot he has missed, that would be unfair on him. Instead, I decided to not disrespect him by mentioning the 3-4 shots he has missed against one team. Surely your not comparing Wade to Kobe and MJ in clutch situations, they shoot 75%+ with game winners. The fact is, he hits as many winners as he does misses, there is a big fuss being made out of that little fact. It's not as good as Melo, or as you compared, Kobe or MJ, but it is better than alot of players, including LeBron.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">You ask anybody if Wade is clutch, and most knowlegdable fans will say yes. </div>

Are you trying to take a cheap shot there? Lets not turn this into the thread like the dunk contest one turned out. I agreed that Wade hits as many as he misses, are you implying he scores these shots by a larger margin more than he misses? If you are, I don't think the facts/stats agree with you.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">Melo and Wade are pretty even IMO. Both are great players that love playing under pressure. </div>

In terms of ability, Wade is better than Melo without a question, but in clutch situations, surely your not implying that Wade is as clutch as Melo. You cannot state such things just because you are a fan, sometimes you have to see things from a neutral position, such as myself. I am neither a fan or hater of Wade or Melo.
