<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_fan:</div><div class="quote_post">I'd hardly call a simple 6 foot shot a game winner. Even LeBron can't miss a 6 foot game winning shot. Wade has missed as many clutch shots as he has hit. He shoots around 50% with game winning shots. He's missed around 3-4 shots against the Lakers. The first shot to send the first Xmas day game into OT, another semi-winning shot in that game, the one this season on Xmas day where the Heat got an offensive board and put the ball back in. Being an average shooter in clutch situations is still a prize on its own. I agree he has hit some, but he has also missed some aswell, therefore he is average. With Melo, it seems like he rarely misses.

I remember before the season started, I was comparing Wade, LeBron and Melo with some friends and we all laughed at Melo and said he isn't in the same league as the other two. However, this season, he has made me eat my words.</div>

First of all, Wades shot in the all star game was a game winner just because its not a buzzer beater doeznt mean its not a game winner. Your criticizing Wades clutchness because of one game!? Also that game your talking about tell me, who won? Even the "Clutch king" Melo [IMG] has missed a clutch shot before, **** even Jordan! So dont criticize his clutchness by 1 notclutch performance because the same can be said about Melo.

I never said that the shot doesn't count because it wasn't a buzzer beater. I said it wasn't very hard to miss seeing as it was shot from around 6 feet from the basket.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheTruth5:</div><div class="quote_post">Your criticizing Wades clutchness because of one game!?</div>

Firstly, I mentioned 2 games, and secondly, I said it would be unfair to state all his missed shots because that takes away credibility from him.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheTruth5:</div><div class="quote_post">Also that game your talking about tell me, who won? Even the "Clutch king" Melo has missed a clutch shot before, **** even Jordan! </div>

It doesn't matter who won in the end, we are not talking about who's the better team, we are discussing clutch play. Every player has missed clutch shots, you can't claim Wade is better because Melo has missed some shots aswell. Melo shoots a better percentage in these situations, that to me is proof of better clutch ability

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheTruth5:</div><div class="quote_post">So dont criticize his clutchness by 1 notclutch performance because the same can be said about Melo.</div>

Yet again, I don't want to mention all of Wade's misses, as I said, that would be unfair.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Are you trying to take a cheap shot there? Lets not turn this into the thread like the dunk contest one turned out. I agreed that Wade hits as many as he misses, are you implying he scores these shots by a larger margin more than he misses? If you are, I don't think the facts/stats agree with you.</div>

No, I am not taking a cheap shot. I'm saying he is very clutch and would not classify him as a mediocre clutch player, as you are implying.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In terms of ability, Wade is better than Melo without a question, but in clutch situations, surely your not implying that Wade is as clutch as Melo. You cannot state such things just because you are a fan, sometimes you have to see things from a neutral position, such as myself. I am neither a fan or hater of Wade or Melo.</div>

I'm saying they are both clutch for such young players, you can't say one is better than the other in terms of clutch ability. I'm happy to see Carmelo has improved so much and has really helped his reputation this season, compared to last year where he couldn't go a week without a new story coming out about him. Again, all I'm saying is, if you are saying Wade is mediocre in the clutch, then you need to look back and go to TheTruth5's post and look at some of the shots he has hit.

I don't think I'm being understood here. I don't have exact figures, but I know that roughly, Wade shoots 50% with clutch shots compared to Melo's 70%. There is a difference between the two, taking nothing away from Wade. You need to understand this, once you have I think you will realise that it's not only about how many you have hit, the misses count aswell. If Wade had scored 50 and missed 50, you cannot just state 50 shots he's scored, you must understand he has also missed 50.

Jordan has hit 25 game winners, and missed 26. Is he not regarded as one of the best clutch players of all time? In regards to clutch shots, you can't just look at percentages.

exactly how have you come to this conclusion Laker_Fan??? Melo shoots 75 and Wade shoots 50? I doubt it buddy. Once Melo scores 17 straight in the fourth vs. the best team in the NBA then we'll have this conversation.

Being clutch means more than percentage on game winning shots. You have to look at how they play overall in crucial part of the game. LeBron James has been shaky with his jumper on potential game winning shots. But he is still a better fourth quarter player than Carmelo, if you consider all facets of the game. If I had to choose one to hit a jump shot at the end, I go with Carmelo. But if I had to choose one to lead my team in a tight game with 5 minutes remaining, I'd go with LeBron.

82games.com publishes stats for all players with 5 minutes remaining in the fourth and the overtimes where neither team is ahead by 5+ points.

Performance at the end of close games:
    LeBron
    Carmelo
    Wade

All thee play well, but LeBron and Wade clearly are taking more control of the offense in those situations. 81% of Carmelo's shots are assisted, whereas it's under 30% assisted for LeBron and Wade. LeBron struggles mightily from the free throw line, but he's still the most efficient from the field at the end of close games (his poor percentage on last second shots, notwithstanding). Both LeBron and Wade are much better at not turning the ball over at the end of games as well (better ball-handlers), and their assist rate is much higher.

Wade and Melo both have the ability to turn it on to win games. Lebron needs to begin doing this, his record aint great but of late he has been making some good last minute shots.

Lebron is the most physically gifted out of the 3, but Wade competes at a higher level. Only one person competes harder, and that's my boy Kobe. Wade has alot of Kobe in him, as far as his competitive edge, Lebron doesn't quite have that, and Carmelo is gettin there. But yea, Wade is more clutch than Lebron and Melo combined. That shouldn't even be an issue. Not only has Wade proved to be clutch in the regular season, but the playoffs too. Get your basketball knowlegde right.

Wow before Melo hit this one shot no one compared him to Lebron and Wade and now after one shot he's definatey comparable.

That's higher than his FG% even, why is that a bad thing? Kobe has many amazing shots but shoots like 34% on game winning shots.

To be more specific, he is only a better clutch shooter than both, that is all. Clutch ability too many times is narrowed down to just ability to hit a game winner, but crunch time does not start when their's 5 secs left on the clock.
