I know this is a bit of a stupid thread dwelling on the past, but is Phil to blame for the mess in the last two years? I'm only mentioning this because I was reading some old threads around the time where Shaq said he wanted to go to the Heat. Phil left and Shaq got traded. If Phil wasn't so selfish, he would have got Wade out of the Shaq trade. Start reading the threads from here and on, you will see how our franchise crumbled to pieces: http://www.justbball.com/forums/forumdispl...sc&daysprune=-1 I know this thread is around two years late, but his recent coaching decisions have really started to annoy me. This is more of a rant then anything, just letting my frustrations out. -We lose in the finals -Phil leaves -Shaq gets traded -Fisher signs for the Warriors -Trade Payton and Fox for Mihm, Jones and Atkins Now that my trip down memory lane is up, is anyone else getting annoyed at Phils failure to see things? Why doesn't he give Bynum some playing time and Cook more PT over Brown? The Lakers look to slow with Mihm and Kwame on the court together, the offense and defense slow down. He's too soft on the players, decisions need to be made. We should have won the game against Boston, the next ten games will decide if we make the playoffs or not. The time to execute is now, miss that opportunity and expect another trip to the lottery. I was hoping we went on a four game winning streak seeing as we have the Spurs and Pistons to contend with after. Now it looks like for every game we lose against teams worse than us, we have to beat the likes of the Spurs or Pistons to make up for it. Plea to Phil, wake up and have some actions. As far as Odom goes, I feel for the guy. He gets so much undeserved hate, the guy puts up 15/10/5 and we expect him to put up 20/10/5. Were asking him to be Garnett. Sure he lacks consistancy, but if we get our PG/PF problems fixed, with wins, consistancy will come naturally to Odom and the rest of the team.
What does Phil have to do with getting Wade? I'm honestly too lazy to read. To my knowledge, we almost had Wade, but our idiot GM couldn't talk his way into finalizing the deal, so we lost Wade for Odom. Some other deals that he couldn't finalize where: Brand and Q Rich (in a sign and trade) for Shaq; Jermaine and Tinsley for Shaq (imagine Tinsley, Kobe, and Jermaine). Ugh, Idioit Gm.
One more thing, Bynum doesn't deserve the damn playing time. He doesn't produce on defense unless he gets lucky and blocks a shot. He shoots way too much, and misses a lot. He needs to have an offseason with Kobe, Amare, and KG which he will get this year, and then we can talk about getting him some minutes.

He fails to get playing time when we are up by 15 points with 3 minutes to play. Cook needs minutes at the PF spot and should either start, or come on when our offense is rolling, instead of when we are losing by a large margin. Look at the game's he's had since the Mavs came, he shows more promise than Brown, yet he's treated as a second class player. As I said before, it's do or die with the next 10 games. We have to get these problems sorted quickly before we head for the lottery again.
Phil Jackson & The Buss family was a huge contributor to the Laker breakup. I think the worst thing they did was ride Jerry West out of the organization. If Jerry West was still the GM, he would have never allowed Shaq and Kobe to feud and ruin their relationship. Here's an interesting fact people always seem to forget. The only reason Miami ended up with Shaq was Mitch Kupchak calling Pat Riley for help. He called Pat Riley and asked him how to handle Shaq & Kobe. Pat Riley give me the phone and let me talk to both players, I'll fix this problem between them. Then Mitch said, I'm actually thinking about trading Shaq. Pat Riley then jumped at the opportunity and the rest is history. Even if Jerry West had to trade Shaq, there's no way he would have allowed Shaq to call the shots. He would have sat Kobe down and told him to not sign anywhere yet, so the Lakers could get the best deal for Shaq to help build a dynasty around Kobe. Jerry and Jim Buss are also at fault. Their egos also pushed Jerry West out of the organization and Buss didn't want to extend West's contract. Losing Jerry West was the biggest loss for this franchise.
