http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sp...3/10texmen.html This article suggests it's not even sure Aldridge is going to turn pro. Anyone heard more about this?
Yeah, Shape put an article in the Draft forum on this. He's goin the Vince Young route. Making sure the focus isnt around him and the draft but on the team as a whole. If Texas goes deep in the tourney, and Aldridge has a HUGE NCAA, and he's a lock for a Top 3 pick, you think he isnt comin out? He's full of **** if he says no. He'll do like all players. At the end of the season, he'll sit down with Rick Barnes, they'll gather info, find out he's going Top 3, maybe even #1 depending on who gets the pick, and decide it'd be in his best interest to go now. Honestly, a player like him, with so much potential and upside, can really expose himself with another year of play. And if Tucker and Gibson stay, plus Kevin Durant coming in next season, he might not even put up the same kinda numbers he is now, which can take away from his value. And with the potential of Greg Oden, Branden Wright, Josh McRoberts and some other big fellas, his stock would drop in the '07 draft, so he'd just end up costing himself a ton of money.

Without that new age rule thing, we would have had a big chance to draft this guy. Imagine that, Knicks get the first pick ('85 all over again), but have to give it over the the Bulls, who draft Oden --> i think Isiah would get fired by the time the second pick is announced
"And with the first pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select Greg Oden, Indianapolis North High School. Uh, wait, oh, we also have a trade to announce. The New York Knicks have traded the rights and position of GM Isiah Thomas, to the San Diego zoo, for the rights to a South African Gibbon. The Gibbon will immediatly trade 7 players from the Knicks roster for Shaquille O'Neal and a case of pre peeled bananas." And that's about what it would look like.
How about that Tyrus Thomas? He's really playing out of his mind right now. I used to think Aldridge was the only big man in this draft that could really help us, but after those last few games in the tournament, i starting to change my mind. I know he's only a freshman, but if he continues to play like that in the Final four, it could be the perfect time for him to apply for the draft. So what do you guys think about him?

Tyrus Thomas has done amazing in the tournament. Block the **** out of everyone. Against Texas: 21 points, 13 boards, 3 blocks, 10-14 shooting Aldridge looked horrible yesterday against LSU. Aldridge can block too. Against LSU: 4 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, 2-14 shooting I'm not sure how Thomas would fit on the Bulls, since we need a big man who has size. He's 6'9" and weights 215. He can get stronger though, which would add weight.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chutney:</div><div class="quote_post">norespect, you haven't been on this forum long enough to question KICK's credibility. He wouldn't make up sources just to prove a random point on a basketball board: thats such a juvenile thing to do. Besides, that aspect of the thread really has been talked over. There is a possibility that Bosh leaves, but this thread is meant to discuss Chicago's offseason. Not Bosh's resigning.</div> KICKSDADDY "And if you think there's any chance you guys are gonna resign him come '07, you need to wake up before i do. Yes they own the Bird rights, yes he will be restricted, but he has already made it loud and clear unless things in TO change, he's gonna want out, and when the Raps stated they expected Mike James to be free to go elsewhere on the open market this summer, Bosh once again stepped up and displayed his displeasure in that move. If the right deal comes along, and TO knows they have no shot to keep him, he's gone, weather it's to Chicago, or somewhere else, he won't be playing for the Raptors beyond his rookie contract." I'm bringing this back up becuase it needs to be said. Posts of this manner should not be tolerated under any circumstances. KICKSDADDY you're a solid poster and all but the stuff you were producing earlier on in this thread is ridiculous. You say now you were merely speaking about the "possibility" of if Bosh comes available, but yet earlier on you were talking like it was already a lock, suggesting that a TO fan that expects to keep Bosh is dreaming. Please continue to be a good poster...but cut the imagination please, you have heard nothing more than minor rumours that are totally without any direct comment from Bosh or his agent. If you wish to invent stories, you should apply to the New York Times or Toronto Sun for possible sports writer employeement. Thanks Back to the original post. I think Peja would be a solid move for this Bulls team, as would getting Lewis. I have to disagree with the OP though on who should be traded in any future attempts to land quality players. My money's on keeping Hinrich and Gordon and instead trading Deng and the Knicks pick (assuming its a top 5). You guys have so much talent you really dont need another big name young star. Keep the bulls pick for a solid young future backup player or trade it for some veteran peices all together. My feeling is Chicago has enough young talent as it is, any more and its just going to become a Clippers-style revolving door for great young players.
Deng is arguaby our best player, he is certainly the most all-round player on the team. I wouldn't trade him ever.
i dunno about best player, he's solid in alot of ways but I dont think he'll be able to take it to the next level, he'll always be just shy of all-star material. But thats just my prediction of him. Personally i think Hinrich is worth his weight in gold, or at least will be in a few years. I wish he was a Raptor.
They have a lot of cap space and young players as well as high picks to trade. I think they'll be a playoff team next year.
LOL what are you smoking? bosh for gordon and a pick? keep dreaming bulls fans. Raptors are not going to let go of Bosh at all, and Bosh has never said that he wants to be traded. He is quite happy in TO and never said "If things do not change, i'll leave". He said he loves whats going on in TO right now with the youth movement and all, and said that the future does look bright for the raps. However--i do think that this summer will be a "summer like no other" for you guys. I'm expecting the Chicago bulls to be championship contenders next year. This is what i would do: -Draft LeMarcus Aldridge (IMO he is going to have an all-star future, and is the best player in his draft class). -Trade away Chandler (He was wayy overpayed IMO). A guy who averages 5 ppg gets paid 11 mill? wtf - I would get Al Harington - Sign Hinrich to a max. - Use the rest of the money to improve bench. Bulls 06-07 roster: LeMarcus Aldridge Al Harington Luol Deng Ben Gordon Kirk Hinrch Bench: Pargo Nocioni Duhon etc

I think he is a good player, but if it came down to choosing between him and Aldridge, Lamarcus is still decades ahead in my eyes. Thomas is good, but he still is raw and has a lot of flaws in his game, which are not apparent, because of how he and Davis balance each other out. Guys that have opened my eyes during this tournament have been Foye, who stepped up his game and turned in amazing performance after amazing performance, even in defeat. As well as ?Big Baby? who has shown just how overwhelming he can be. The only question with him is, will he be the next Karl Malone, or Tractor Traylor? My ideal selection has remained the same though. I would still take Aldridge with the first overall pick, and Randy Foye with where ever our second selection ends up. If those two things happen I think we could trade Ben Gordon for a big man, or just sign a free agent big man.

BKS- I'm with you on the 2 draft picks, and the trading of Gordon. However, I can not hop on your train with Thomas. I think, with all the frontcourt help the Bulls need, why not pick two big men? I prefer Aldridge aswell, however, he claims to want to return? Chandler needs offense next to him, so I lean towards LaMarcus, but his defense, athleticism, motor and tenacity, I can't ignore what Thomas could bring. I love Foye too, however, not if we keep Gordon. If we want to trade Gordon, then why not Gay to play the 2? The closer we get to June, and know who's declaring, the easier this might be. If I had my choice, and I could pick who I wanted (assuming they declare) I'm drafting Aldridge and Carney. Trading Gordon, signing a big in free agency (maybe Al Harrington) Then Aldridge can come off the bench, Carney can play the 2, and Nocioni, Duhon, Songaila.
What is your take on Joakim Noah being drafted by the Bulls? If you look at the landscape of the East teams are quickly adding two athletic big men in the frontcourt. Detroit has set the standard with the Wallaces and it appears everyone else who is serious about contending is following suit. Miami - Shaq/Zo Orlando - Howard/Darko (this will be the future powerhouse) Toronto - Bosh/Villanueva Charlotte - Okafor/Brezec/May Atlanta - Pachulia/M. Williams/ J. Smith Indiana - O'Neal/Granger/Foster Eventually these face up athletic forwards are going to dominate the league and the post players are going to be even more obsolete. The Bulls have a chance to grab two athletic forwards in this draft if Noah, Aldridge, and Tyrus come out. I think grabbing any combo of those two would be the direction to go. I also like the proposed Seattle deal netting Collison (another big body) and getting a draft pick to grab one of the wing players in this year's draft. Brewer, Carney, or Roy. In addition the Bulls have a lot of cap room to fill out the roster. I don't even think they need to spend this summer and can wait until 2007 or 2008 to land a blockbuster free agent. PG - Hinrich / Duhon SG - Roy / Basden SF - Deng / Noc / Songolia PF - Aldridge / Collison / Sweetney C - Chandler / Noah This is young, talent loaded roster for the Bulls with a lot of flexibility.
I kind of thought about grabbing 2 big men originally. Claiming we should go for a future atletic stud, such as Aldridge, and a workman like defensive beast like Shelden Williams. I think the 2 of them combined with Chandler could be scary up front. I like Noah, like his motor, his tireless work ethic, I just don't think he'll be there come our second lottery pick. I think Aldridge, Thomas, and Noah all go in the first 7. Depends on where our picks fall. If we spent our money in free agency to add a scoring punch from the bench, a nice role player who will not mind gunning off the pine, I say save the money till next summer. We still have that second Knicks pick next season to dangle for one of the big FA next season.

I must of read to much in "And if you think there's any chance you guys are gonna resign him come '07, you need to wake up before i do." Though it sure does sound alot different from your most recent "Never did I say it was a "lock" Bosh was gone". Seriously though it could of just been your wording coupled with the fact that you were on the defensive from some T.O fans, but still you certainly did leave the impression that you were all but betting Bosh would leave the Raptors, the qoute i listed and several others for example. Oh please dont, i enjoy hearing all manner of rumours/tips regardless of how reliable the source is. I do consider you to be a quality poster and i hope you can continue that. I agree though the horse is sufficiently dead, though i felt it to be necessary in defence of a Raptors team that i feel takes more flake than any team in the league despite having many +'s to the organization/city/team. Back on topic i think the Bulls should take a look at Aldridge for sure, and perhaps Thomas, though i dont think they could use any one else in the draft. Chicago has so much talent already, some veterans and some key journeyman and this team could be a top seed. I still cant believe you guys got a possible #1 pick for a Eddy Curry
