I think this will go down to the last games of the season, but I do agree with you in the fact that they have to win the next couple of games....man that Boston loss hurt..
Well if we win tonight, which it lookes like it's going to happen, and the Hornets lose, which again, it looks like it's going to happen, we gain a whole game towards them...but we need to string together some key victories.
Everything went the Lakers way tonight. The Lakers picked up the win agains the Magic and both Minnesota and New Orleans lost.
The Rockets just waived Jon Barry to allow him a chance to sign with a playoff team. Reading between the lines, this would suggest JVG isn't confident his team can make the post season. If they lose another game, I'm taking them off the list.
The Jazz loss and the Kings victory tonight put the Kings just 1.5 games behind the Lakers. The Jazz really missed an opportunity, losing to the Bobcats at home. The Lakers lost again in a back-2-back game. The Kings are really worrying me right now. They are gaining confidence and momentum, and every game Artest plays, he's just getting his conditioning back.
Say BYE BYE to the playoffs... Lakers arent making it.. lost to Portland? What kind of loss is that? back at .500
If they win any game next week playing those tough playoff teams like Detroit and SA then I will still have hope (I still have hope but if they win it would bring it higher)...

Out of the remaining fixtures, 9 games are against oppostion below us in the West. 1 game is against a team below the 8th seed in the East. 9 other games are winable, those being against Cleveland, Boston, Milwaukee, New Jersey, Denver, LA Clippers and NO/Oklahoma City(3). That gives a total of 19 possible victories. Our target is 15 more, leaving playoff contention being extremely tight. One small run of 4 game losses will ruin our hopes. We need to start winning 3+ games in a row. The Math
---------------------------------------------------------- Total Wins :: 29 Games Left :: 24 Wins Goal :: 44 Possible Wins :: 19 Wins Left :: 15 Winning % Needed :: 0.625 (15-9) ----------------------------------------------------------

We then went on a two game winning streak, beating the Mavs with Kobe dropping 36 and then the Bobcats. After that, we went on a 8 game losing streak, ultimatley where the season ended for us as we had a 32-37 record, with 13 games to play. Only 3 of those losses were against tough opposition, Miami, Indiana and Seattle(then strong). A win against the Pistons tonight would mean so much. Firstly, it will lead us needing 13 wins from 22 games, with 18 "possible" victories against "beatable teams." Another positive out of a victory against the Pistons is the fact that it may give us momentum to push a victory over the Spurs and then a 5-6 game winning streak, ultimatley giving us Playoff Birth. The Jazz and Kings may faulter under the pressure we put on them, again allowing us to move 1-2 extra games clear. As I mentioned before, this was a couple of games off the time last year when we went on an eight game losing streak, ending our playoff hopes. The Math
---------------------------------------------------------- Total Wins :: 30 Games Left :: 23 Wins Goal :: 44 Possible Wins :: 18 Wins Left :: 14 Winning % Needed :: 0.609 (14-9) ----------------------------------------------------------

Ex-Laker Caron Butler is getting it done against the Kings. This is a tough loss for the Kings. This is their 3rd straight road game, and won't get any easier tomorrow, because they have to face the Nets in New Jersey.
Nice, both Sac and Utah lost, definitely some breathing room, but it in no means we should slack off.

Who cares if the Lakers make it. That is unless they meet Dallas in the first round. They might have a chance. As much as I love Kobe, I don't think he can carry the team past the first round. If he does then he would give us a show. But Odom and the rest of the team just aren't enough. Sacramento needs to rty and take that spot because they would give a better show imo, but watching Kobe would be more interesting. At this point I really don't care though.
