<div class="quote_poster">Quoting igotask8board:</div><div class="quote_post">Who cares if the Lakers make it. That is unless they meet Dallas in the first round. They might have a chance.

As much as I love Kobe, I don't think he can carry the team past the first round. If he does then he would give us a show. But Odom and the rest of the team just aren't enough.

Sacramento needs to rty and take that spot because they would give a better show imo, but watching Kobe would be more interesting.

At this point I really don't care though.</div>

Laker fans obviously care. Wouldn't you like to see the Rockets in the playoffs? I don't care if we get dominated by San Antonio in the first round, at least the team is out there competing instead of sitting at home watching other teams. I'd rather watch my team than watch the Spurs and Kings play.

Im not a Lakers fan, just a Kobe fan.

I hate how this team went from an all-star line up to just Kobe, some role players, and Odom. I would rather see Kobe in that 8th spot if he could carry his team past the Spurs, but c'mon...The Spurs have Bowen (Dirtiest Player of The Year) to slow down Kobe. Odom, Mimh, Parker and Brown are not players you expect to step up and score 20 points a game.

If the Mavs get that 1st spot, then Kobe could dominate them. If its the Spurs, then obviously Sacramento matches up better.

It's always better to make the playoffs. This is a very young team, so the experience for them is priceless. It also gives them confidence heading into the offseason. Besides, the Lakers do not have a lottery pick this year, so there's no benefit to tanking the season.

You're also assuming the Lakers are going to face the Spurs in the round one. Right now the Lakers are tied for 7th, while the Mavs and Spurs are tied for first.

I'm hoping the Lakers make a run at the 6th spot to face Denver in round one, but I also give them a fair chance against the Mavs.

If it's the Spurs or Suns, the Lakers are going to get rocked, but at least they'll have a better idea of what they need to do for next season to beat these teams.

Technically, its better not to make the playoffs than get the 8th seed and be beaten by the Spurs. The reason for this is the better draft pick possibly building something for the future. However, not making the playoffs means the stars that may be free agents wouldn't want to come to your ball club. Theres also pride. I'd rather make the playoffs than not.

Once we've made the playoffs (yes I'm insisting were making the playoffs,) I'll start doing a breakdown of the leaders in order to see who we're going to face in the first round of the playoffs.

if we keep on playing like the way we did against DET and S.A. then we might even get to 6th place ahhaha... personally i would really like to face the spurs in the playoffs coz Bowen can't handle kobe no more! smush has an advantage over tony parker and kwame can defend duncan flat out hahaha!

I don't think we'd want to play the Spurs first round, especially with them having home court advantage. The 5th spot would be the ideal attainable spot so we could either play the Clippers or Nuggets. We would be lucky to land the Mavs if we end up in the 8th, 7th or 6th spot. I would hate to play the Spurs or Suns. The Mavs are beatable but we will be lucky to get them, its a 1 in 3 chance of playing them in the first found.

I actually wouldn't mind the Kings passing the Lakers, if it prevents us from facing the Suns in the 1st round. The Suns are a terrible match up for the Lakers, and I don't like our chances at winning a single game.

The Spurs are going to start shutting down Duncan to rest him for the playoffs, so Dallas has a strong chance of being the #1 seed.

I like the Lakers odds against Dallas in 8 v. 1 matchup a lot more than a 7 v. 2 matchup with the Suns.

I'd like any matchup that doesn't have the Suns in it I have to agree with you on that one there Shape...although I think the best would be getting 6th spot playing the 3rd best team....that would be the best in my opinion

6th spot would definitely be the best case scenario, but it's not realistic at this point. The Grizzlies are a better team and have an easier schedule the rest of the way. They just started a long home stretch, so they'll get back on track shortly.

Tonight's game has a lot of impact on the West standings ...

Lakers lose and New Orleans wins, the Lakers will drop to 9th.
Lakers win and Memphis lose, the Lakers will be .5 game from 6th seed.

I'll definitely be scoreboard watching tonight.

Expect us to lose, its a back to back and I don't recall us beating the Timberwolves many times in the last two seasons. New Orleans next game is on Saturday against Denver.
