It better be, he was still a solid player. Had a decent showing in the playoffs last year.

I like how JVG tried to make it seem like they were doing him a favor by waiving him (read the whole article). If he was going to leave Houston why would he want to go to the Nuggets? I realize that he used to play there, but he also used to play for Detroit (who just traded their back-up pg).

Definitely a sad day, i don't get this move, even if he was injured or just not in shape, he was the funny guy in team, t-mac said that not me, this man is importent for the team... again, i don't get this, i mean, for what?

Like you said, i hope this is followed by a move that will improve the team.

The article says JVG waived him to give him a chance to sign with a playoff contender or for Jon to retire.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Though Barry indicated he would "leaning toward" retiring, Van Gundy said the Rockets chose to make the move today to give him the option to play with a team looking for help this was season and in the post-season.</div>

Sounds like JVG is throwing up the white flag on the season. Let the draft talk begin.

If we're looking for a point guard, John Lucas III might be an option. Seattle also just waived Rick Brunson, and Tony Delk is on the market as well.

There are a lot of choices, but I guess none could be the fan favorite that Barry was. Even though I wasn't too fond of his play at times, he was definitely worth trading Tyronn Lue for. Best of luck.

Tony Delk was signed by Detroit, not to long ago. I think that we are deep enough as it is at the guard position.

Man I really hate to see this, Jon was one of my favorite current Rockets....I still think we could have used his experience, shooting, and hussle out there....I know he's been banged up, but I'm pretty sure he would've been ready by the post season....it was so fun watching him run the floor with Tmac last year, when we were squashing teams towards the end of the season......here's to Jon having success wherever he goes (except against the Rockets)

Man, he definitely will be missed. The guy was a great guy on the court, wowed the fans, brought excitement, and helped make the whole team concept thing work. Here's to Barry going to a championship quality team like Detroit and winning the ring.

[IMG] now who can shoot the threes?? Wesley is just OK...Alston is inconsistent, dunno where Head's going, T-mac's getting worse, and during that time Barry couldn't even help...now he's gone.
I'd say by the end of this year(if we don't make it far into the playoffs) Sura, Deke, Wesley, and maybe Howard will all be gone 'cause they're not "young" enough.

Could this mean that Sura is close to being active?

    I hope that is it.

I will really miss Jon. He never got any PT this year, and that really upset me.

Our team is getting younger. I guess that is a plus.

OOOO I KNOW WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN. HOW COME NOBODY SAW THIS?

We are going to resign Jim Jackson [IMG]

"Phoenix waives Jim Jackson and signs Andre Barrett from Florida of the D-League to a 10-day contract."

    http://www.nba.com/transactions/current_mo...ansactions.html

I hope he is willing to come back to Houston after we did him like that. He would be good off the bench for at least another 2 years.

Wow JJ has played badly this year. What's wrong w/ him? If it is minor inuries and not him sucking, then he'd be a good pickup for next seasons playoff run. Cuz I mean DAMN, he is shooting the FT at 69%, and last season he was 93%.

In Phoenix he really hasn't been given the opportunities and minutes that he would regularly get since he's basically playing behind Bell, House, and Jones. Jackson really hasn't been playing in too many games so the statistics are also a bit skewed. Still, I'd sign him with a little bit of caution. Its obvious he's getting older so I'm not too sure how is body is holding up- which could also be another reason he's not doing too well this year. Plus, I just don't want to screw him over again, the Rockets could easily do it to him again. Besides, I can't seem him coming back here anyway.

The player taking Jon Barry's roster spot is Rick Brunson. Yes thats right, the great and amazing Rick Brunson. [IMG]

I have not seen him play so I don't know if he's any good, but he is one of Van Gundy's former Knicks players. This is almost reminiscent of the Charlie Ward situation. I would've like the Rockets to re-sign John Lucas or Andre Barret (who just got a 10-day with the Suns).

Rick Brunson? Thats a HUGE sign that either the organization is stupid or is deliberately trying to put a worthless player on this team so we can tank it. I haven't watched him play much either, but from what I've heard, he's not that great of a point guard. Just a decent vet presence, not a great shooter, not even a good three shooter, and from what I've heard, only a decent defender.
