One of the trademarks of the Detroit Pistons was that they were the best rebounding team in the NBA. But this season, despite having a better record than before and seemingly playing at a higher level, the Pistons have lost their trademark rebounding edge and find themselves sitting #18 in total rebounds (40.94), #17 in opponent total rebounds (40.94), and #14 in opponent rebounding differential (-0.00). Usually this team is leading the NBA in these categories. Just today, they got outrebounded 59-35 by one of the lower-level rebounding teams in the league (Denver). Does this loss in rebounding hurt the Pistons seeing as how big a role it's played in reaching the Finals twice and helping them win an NBA Championship?
Not at all, infact who really cares? We're still chalking up wins, thats what really counts. I think the fact that this is the best start to a season we've ever had proves that it isnt that big a factor. Also for those stats you posted, Ben Wallace is still averaging 12.3rpg, which is the second best rebounding average in the league, sitting only behind Dwight Howard.
i dont watch lots of piston games but maybe its because they score more shots and have less to rebound?
Pistons get lazy against plenty of teams on the boards, they have tried to just beat teams on pure talent. they turn It on when they need to as the two games Vs the Spurs proved 47-10 thats all that matters. so really who cares?
It's a long season, every team has struggles and every team has a period where they're found out. Come the business end Detroit will be at the top of their game, just like San Antonio. The two best and most professional teams in the league, by far.

Ask Pheonix last year and Dallas for the past several. Come playoff time the Pistons could turn out to be in serious trouble. Defence and rebounding are the big keys, offense means next to nothing. They've got the D, but rebounding...i'm not so sure. Trust me....as Pistons fans you of all people should know that a teams record means nothing
Every team goes through slumps. The Pistons are in what right now. So what? As long as they get the 1st seed overall (in the west and east) they will kill everyone in the playoffs. They turn it up in playoff time and we know that.
