<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Lakers contacted the representatives of swingman Jim Jackson, who was waived by the Phoenix Suns. Anyway, I think that Jim Jackson is a low risk investment if they were to get him and he didn't work out. If he works out he would be a guy that if he gets hot can put up 20 points.
He would be a very solid pickup for LA. He is a vet and a lockeroom guy and would embrass the fact that he gets to play with Kobe. In the long run where the Lakers will be fighting for their life to make the Playoffs he can come in and be a factor. He is like a 13-14 year veteran? But the way he plays like 85% of the time he looks like he is just an 8-9 year guy.
This looks like we can only have a positive outcome by signing him. We won't lose out on too much money or cap space. I don't think he'll make a huge impact, but his presence may help us win an extra 3-4 games this season, something which could lead to us making the playoffs. Go for it Mitch.
Jimmy J can shoot the ball, plain and simple. He can give you 12-15 any given night. That's something the Lakers and Kobe need when Lamar decides not to show up. He'd be the perfect 6th man for this team, to bring in for Kobe or Lamar.
Yesterday on the radio Kurt Rambis said McKie is likely done for the season. Jim Jackson would be a great addition for the Lakers. I think the team should consider not only signing him for the rest of the season, but also locking him in for next season as well. He would give the team insurance in case Devean George signs else where next season.
Why the hell do the Lakers sign away there MLE's to guy's that play like 8 games and then call it quits...
If Jimmy Jackson couldn't do anything this year with Steve Nash giving him easy shots what makes people think he will suddenly start making shots somewhere else?
Jackson has always been able to make shots. Could it be that in Pheonix is just didnt work out for him? He has done pretty well throughout his career. His longest tenure was in Dallas and he had something like a 26 ppg avg. He still will give you 15 and 6 a night consistently. I dont think the Lakers can do any worse by signing the guy. Better than watching Mckie just warm the bench.

i, like most you, think that jackson will be a decent signing. he is a veteran, which is something we really need. he will provide leadership, and he is a good three point threat, so he will strengthen our bench

He was good last year but has completely lost his touch this year. No lift in his shots and isn't even good defensively anymore. If your offense doesn't work in Phoenix then you have big problems. jackson has averaged just 3 points per game this year on terrible %. Not sure how you think he can give any team 15 and 6. It's a shame as I was a big fan of his last year.
I still think its better than the 0pts 0% we are getting from vet guard Mckie. I say sign him. He's a journeyman. It wont hurt the Lakers to sign him and see what he can do for the team.

Jackson got playing time at the start of the season and started a few games but continued to throw up brick after brick. Thats why he hasn't played.

The bottom line is anything Jim Jackson gives the Lakers is going to be more than what Aaron McKie is going to do. All I want from him is a solid 10-12 minutes per game. This means 10-12 less minutes for Sasha or Luke.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">This means 10-12 less minutes for Sasha or Luke.</div> haha, well put. The Lakers have nothing to lose by signing Jackson, wave Slava and sign this kid.
