Mavs 90 Bobcats 76 Grades: Mavs Bounce Back The Mavs scored the first 8 points of the game, but then the Mavs took a nap on their way to scoring their lowest first half point total of the season: 36 points. The biggest problem for the Mavs was the absence of their bench scoring in the first half as Marquis was the only bench player to tally and he only had a single point. The Mavs came out of the locker room in the second half and put this game away by scoring 34 points in the third. The Bobcats would make a run in the fourth to make it somewhat interesting as they closed back within 12 points, but the Mavs kept the Bobcats at bay. Now the bad news: Of course Devin was already out with his shoulder, but Keith and Josh joined him tonight. Not exactly good news with the Suns coming to visit Sunday. Johnson: C+, Avery saw the Mavs run out to an 8-0 run and then fall asleep. So much for the pre-game motivation speech. Whatever he did during halftime had a much more dramatic impact as again the Mav opened up the half with an 8-0 run, but this time kept going. Nevertheless, the Bobcats certainly aren?t considered a major coaching challenge for the Mavs this season?. Howard: C; Josh stepped on Brezec?s foot in the second period and re-aggravated his hamstring that was sore from a bad dunk landing in San Antonio. Josh wasn?t exactly on fire tonight anyways so there is a good chance that Josh probably shouldn?t have played tonight at all. Josh scores 4 points (2-8 FG, 0-1 treys, 0-0 FT) in 11 minutes to go with 6 rebounds. +2 Nowitzki: B+; Dirk was one of the few highlights (if you can call anything the Mavs did in the first half close to that) for the game with a game high 26 points (9-17 FG, 1-1 trey, 7-8 FT) to go with 9 rebounds and 3 assists. One assist was a really sweet touch pass to Erick under the basket. +28 Diop: B; DeSagana started out nice, but was also part of the general malaise of the Mavs in the first half. Diop did salvage his stats and finished with a respectable 8 points (4-9 FG, 0-2 FT), 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots though. +11 Terry: C+; Jason caught on fire in the third period to help put this one away with 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-5 treys), but otherwise was busy keeping his egg crate from breaking. No assists, no rebounds, no steals, no blocks, no free throw attempts. +11 Griffin: C+; Adrian was back to having one of his all around solid games which is good as the Mavs will need his expertise Sunday. Adrian had 9 points (3-6 FG, 0-0 trey, 3-3 FT) to go with 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. The downside was his uncharacteristic 3 turnovers. +14 Van Horn: C; Keith goes out in the first period when a Bobcat player pushes Darrell Armstrong into Keith?s knee. Keith was not available for the rest of the game and is questionable for Sunday?s game with the Phoenix Suns. Zero turnovers (in less than a minute of playing time) -1 Armstrong : C-; Darrell brought his spark off the bench but his 4 rebounds were wiped out by his 4 turnovers in 13 minutes. +0 Dampier: A; Erick followed up his good effort against the Spurs with another fine output against the Bobcats as he had a game high 14 rebounds, tying his season high. Erick also pitched in 9 points (4-5 FG, 1-2 FT) as he benefited from his team mates nice dishes. Erick also met Avery?s approval by getting his targeted 2 blocked shots to receive Avery?s post-game props. +21 Stackhouse: C-; Jerry was unable to score in the first half and it wasn?t till the third period that he finally took the ball to the basket after going 0-5 form the field. Stackhouse did end up with 9 points in the second half (4-11 FG, 0-3 treys, 1-2 FT) but his shooting behind the arc is still taking precedence over his shots in the paint. Wouldn?t be so bad if he weren?t so loose with the ball. +6 Daniels: C-; Marquis had an opportunity to shine tonight with the injuries to Devin and Josh but his shot was not on. Daniels scored 8 points (3-10 FG, 2-4 FT) to go with 4 rebounds and 3 assists against 3 turnovers. Marquis one saving grace tonight was his game high 8 assists. +10 M?Benga: C; DJ got 4 minutes tonight as Avery was desperately looking for any bench production. DJ got one blocked shot to go with 1 rebound. +1 Marshall : DNP-CD. Harris: DNP-CD, Inactive. Devin is out with a left quad contusion. Podkolzin: DNP-CD, Inactive. Pavel had surgery to repair his right foot and ankle. Powell: DNP-Inactive, Josh has been sent to the Fort Worth Flyers (NBDL) to get playing time. Typical Chef Ed Type
I think the mavs should have beaten them wrost i mean the bobcats are suckie they are getting better b/c reymond felton and sean may are learing more as they go along but this was not a good match up
A 14 point win is a pretty convincing win if you ask me. It's good to see the Mavs rebound, I just hope they can get everything straight for the Suns on sunday
