Terrible decision making.....terrible shot selection down the stretch of close games......not enough ball distribution........too many turnovers......average to below average defender. Why do we want to sign him for 3 years at 5 mill a year?
When i read the title of this thread, i thought that the guy was just a Mike james basher. But after reading, i totally agree, he doesn't distribute the ball evenly. GEt the ball to bosh, good game. I miss skip already.

Mike James is one of those guys who can get you into a game... and then take you right out. We shouldn't be fooled by his performances where he singlehandedly wins the game for us down the stretch because whenever he's off (like in our previous game and this one), our whole team offense is killed. Getting Mike James is sort of like getting Marbury or Francis (who are co-incidently on the same team now). At first there'll be numerous games where he'll dominate and lead the team to victory. During this period, the fans are happy b/c they have this new exciting pg who can singlehandedly win games for them. But after a while, their new pg tries to dominate every close game which will produce good results from time to time, but whenever he's off, the whole team suffers. At this point, the fans get restless and the new pg (in this case Mike James) will have officially overstayed his welcome. (btw, Bill Simmons talked about this in one of his previous articles. But he didn't relate it to Mike James though) But I don't think we have to worry about James anymore though b/c judging from Colangelo's comments, he too doesn't seem too keen on signing James in the offseason. Personally, I wouldn't mind having him back as long as he doesn't cost over $5 mill a year (at the VERY most) and he'll be coming off the bench. But if we can't sign or trade for another pg in the offseason, then I guess we have no choice then to start him b/c he's still better than Calderon at this point.
I'd rather have Speedy Claxton for 3 Mills a year than have Mike "My initials are MJ so I'm just as good" James sign for 5.5 Mills for 4 or 5 years. My 2 cents.
I think he is good off the bench guy not the starter even though he is putting up hugh number this year. If he asks more than 6mil then i think we shouldnt sign him.
I would like to see Mike James re-sign here. However I would also like to see him play a little more under control during the last 5 minutes of close games. He has a consistant 3 pt shot, drive to the basket well, he can find the open man. His knock is that when his shot isn't falling, he presses the issue.
Mike James is not a BC point guard. remeber he trade away Starbury (rich Mike James) to get cap space to get Steve Nash (Extremely rich Calderon). I think we are much better off with a PG with better instincts, the willingness to pass the ball, knows when where and who to give the ball and plays inspired defense. I think Either drafitng a guy like Kyle Lowery, trading for a TJ Ford/Luek Ridnour or signing Speddy Claxton is a much better option then keeping Mike James around. I'm not going to mention the fatc he's turning 31 this spring and wants a big long-term contract that will mess up our cap for years. I think his poor instincts and excecution of plays is the reaosnw e are so bad at closing out games.
Mitch must play Calderon in clutch time. He has a lot of experience in Europe and he never takes shots he shouldn't take. Mike James is a short shooting guard, he's not a pg. He's there to score.

Jose can't even run an NBA offensive set properly (yet) during his regular minutes, though we don't really have any proper offensive sets to run, so I don't think he's quite ready to handle the ball in the final seconds of the game.
Can the Rockets have him back then? I miss his offense off the bench. The Rockets offense this year have been lackluster at most. Well not when Yao and T-Mac start together. MJ is great, but he is not a starting PG. He will give you great offense off the bench and that is it. The only reason he is having a career year is because Toronto wanted to get rid of Alston, and needed some one to fulfill the role of starting PG. James was all they could get. I miss his 3s a lot.
We can't answer that question because im not BC, but, i think trading him for Tyronn Lue is great, hes a good clutch player and he can dish out pretty good.

lol! mike james would fit right in with marbury, and francis. while he's at it, thomas should go after baron davis and iverson too. he could put out a whole line-up of shoot first pg's lol
lol, too funny (above) I like Mike James, I really do. Does he fit in well with this team? I think so. But if Colangelo decides not to re-sign him, I hope he gets a nice deal, maybe trade James to Portland and get Steve Blake or maybe Orlando for Arroyo.
lol, going back to someone saying I miss Skip, I just recently read a Rocket fan saying if we had Mike James we'd be in the playoffs right now. Mike James owns the league, but lately he has been making some questionable crunch time decisions. Still he's the only guy on the team that can create down the stretch, and Mitchell IMO needs to be more creative in the offensive sets. Bosh can get his own shot too, but he also turns the ball over quite a bit.
