latest word is Yi himself said to a reporter he's not ready to come out yet since he doesn't feel his game is ready for the NBA. He said he didn't isn't at the level Yao was at when he declared. Yao had participated in numerous int'l competitons. http://sports.sina.com.cn/cba/2006-04-19/03392167949.shtml (following are my thoughts, not from the article) Then again, his manager/agents (some of the same guys handling Yao's business) are exploring the option... who knows what's going on. The kid is in the middle of the CBA Finals, more will come out after the season ends and he gets a chance to really think about it. Aldridge was denying rumors during the NCAA tourney, too.
No man when the CBA tells you to declare in their plans of preparation for the 2008 olympics you declare. All the pieces are clear China is planning for 2008 first they call wang zhizhi back for training and wants to make sure he ready. Then they finally do not force yao to play in world championship as the official said they don't want to damage him for olympics. He will declare. Didn't adam morrison and jokim noah also say that? http://nbadraft.net/jianlianstory002.asp Here is a story on him that shows he has infact been working on his strength and has shown great improvements plus he has solid mid ranged- long ranged jumper. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2...tent_357481.htm In this article Del Harris compares Yi to stromile swift showing he infact is a freak not what you guyz say about average for world good for chinese in here he is compared to camby and them. He also has a lot more fighting heart then yao and them showed by the passion and the fight he had when he got into tussel with a guy who weighted 80 more pounds then he did.
Rockets need a starting 2 guard. I've never seen this guy yall talking about play but, thats what I have to say about it.
If a starting SG in the draft is the target.... Roy or Roby are the best choices in my view. Here's another point I want to make about Roby. vs. Roy who is a great shooter, Roby is longer and shows he can be a better Defensive player. TMac should not be relied upon as the best perimeter defender any longer. Roby is tall, long, quick and more than above average athletically. My other choices at SG Carney, Ager,J.J., Brewer
Roby also makes careless mistakes like when he uses his abilities to the extreme, he can turn the ball over very very easily which I have read in every scouting report. He might be the best player on his team, but still doesn't lead Colorado anywhere while Brewer and JJ carry their teams to victory. The most important thing is he has potential which we don't need because we need a proven guy.
i dont think any rookie in this year draft can come in and make a differents from his first year... we need more then a rookie, we need someone like Radmanovic who is a free agent this year... he can shoot 3's, spread the floor and make it harder for other teams to double team yao and t-mac + he can play SG, SF and PF we also need a good big SG who can shoot the ball from the outside too. and before we can do any of that we need to get rid of stromile swift contact or howerd... at least one of them!!! we also need someone that can comes out of the bench and score... someone like Finley for the spurs, Stackhouse for the mavs, House for the suns, Miller for the grizzlies, etc..... you got the point!!!! yao, t-mac, alston should stay. Everyone else should be in the market

Basically, that rules out shooting guard. He's also a bit slow and bad on defensive end (inconsistent offensively) so I doubt he'd be able to play small forward consistently well enough. Besides, on any playoff caliber team, he wouldn't be a starter. On top of that, I really don't want him here period. He sucks at rebounding, so he wouldn't be giving Yao any help at all down low to grab the ball boards, so he really barely helps the team.
Trust me I dont look at players on potential. Most top players(not all) have proven themselves in college. If the Rockets want a proven guy at 2 it will have to be in free agency. No College player is a Proven guy until they do something in the league. Look at their game and role on their college team and reduce it to the position for the Rockets. I and everyone has critiques on all the guys but will that fit the Rockets. If you take what everyone including me has asked for. Starting big 2 athletic shooter defender quick 1-1 game handles Where does Roby come up short. He is not the best in every category but I think could fit well. I'd take Roy over J.J. Roby Roy J.J. Carney something like that. S.Williams wouldn't be a bad pick. That would definitly mean the Rockets would have to make a gain of a shooter in Free agency or Trade.
I'm not saying he doesn't have those qualities but he is supposedly known as a guy who takes the load on him and when he does, he doesn't perform his best. When he is relaxed, then he does his best, but in pressure situations he isn't the guy to get the ball.
^^that shouold be a plus because he won't have that problem in the NBA his first season. The pressure to carry the Rockets will be on Yao and TMac.
there is no such thing as a sure thing in this draft. Even if we do get roy he could turnout to be a reece gains someone we all thought could contribute but not great enough for the nba level. I know we desperately need a SG but this draft really has no one that can step in from day one and take the starting job. I mean carney and roy and reddick might be able to start take the starting job in the middle of the season. So if we can't get a sure thing at SG and our shooting percentage low. Why not go for a PF that looks good and can knock down the three point shot. yet has good speed and quickness. I still think if Bargini falls to us which is very possible if Atlanta does not pick him he would be great for us. He is fundamentally sound, good shot won't leave you guyz think how much harder he could have played and can contriube on offence. Personally i would rather draft him and solve the SG problems with other assets.
LeMarcus Aldridge. The guy would probably be an upgrade over both Howard and Swift, he has range on his shot, is a good rebounder, good shot blocker, and a hard worker.
With the pick that we have now i have a good feeling we are already set on taking Rodney Carney. Why? because supposedly Carney and Mcgrady are good friends and that T-Mac Carney and Head are working together in workouts with the same trainer. Will T-Mac demand we draft Carney like he did with Carter? Do you think Carney ends up ours? Heres the source that they are working out together. http://www.commercialappeal.com/mca/tigers...4660218,00.html
I think R.Carney goes top 5. Aldridge T.Thomas Carney S.Williams M.Williams R.Gay Roy With the Rockets stars in place I wouldn't be surprised to see the first pick packaged with Stro or Howard to get a solid 2.

The Raptors wanted Carter, and the fact that the two were cousins were discovered only after they were both on the Raptors. Why would TMac pine for a stranger whom he barely knew before they played together? Let's not think TMac has that much influence at this stage. If Yao said something, maybe the Rockets may seem compelled to act, but McGrady had just played the worst basketball of his career in a Rockets uniform and he might even be traded this summer. Why would Dawson listen to anything TMac has to say? Francis and Mobley were franchise players in 2002 and they wanted the number one pick traded for veterans, but Dawson still drafted Yao. If Carney does end up a Rocket, it'll be because of his skillset and workouts, not TMac's input.
At the time the raptors thought mcgrady was part of their future and the GM gurmwald or something went up to mcgrady and asked who he htinks they should draft. He said he really wanted carter there. So thats why people say that he caused his own grief i will try to find an article on it so all of you can see.
What are you talking about T-Mac might be traded? Sure he played pretty bad and all but he was also injured. when he was most healthy he played pretty good. If anything I would expect Yao to want him kept around, because with him healthy the Rockets won 51 games! how long had it been since that happened? I think trading T-Mac for anything short of LeBron James is dumb.
