<div class="quote_poster">Quoting tinyballer:</div><div class="quote_post">Oh please no not sheldon!!!</div> who do u want?
Sheldon is a good rebounder but he is slow and we don't need another guy in the front line slow when the other team is scoring on transition. I hope we draft gay in the slight chance he falls us but i think if he doesn't we should draft carney. Because Gay and Carney will also both provide rebounding at their respective positions.
The thing is our PFs arent given a chance. The only one given that chance was Juwan. Stro was given the chance at the beginning of the year, but you can't expect him to get the system right away. Of course he is going to struggle, start swift this year. See what happens. Draft in this order Gay > Brewer > Carney > Marcus Williams > Shelden Williams > JJ redick
I'm seeing at least 3 mock drafts with Shawne Williams going into the second round. If we draft him with #32 pick, that would be a major steal on our part.
There is quite a few players at the 32 that could be very intriguing Shawne Williams being one of them. There is Darius Washinton, Kyle Lowrey, Arthur Johnson, Denham Brown who has been showing he can be just as good as Brandon Roy in terms of readiness and in my opinion a better option, Hassan Adams and all those propsects at the 32
Rockets Player Personel Philosiphy I believe the player that we sign has to be able to play at a high level or is in their prime in two to three years. Everyone is talking like we need help now immediately and stuff but truthfully i do not think that is the case. Even if the prospect helps us immediately our team will still not win the championship we are working for on final conclusion the championship. If we draft players with a little more upside like Rudy Gay or Andrea Barganni we are drafting player who in two or three years could put up stats like 20/10/5 and at worst 12/5/2 which is unlikely to happen because of the promise they show. If we draft a guy like Brandon Roy he could be giving you just 15points his whole career and nothing more or a guy like sheldon who will probably give you like 12 points his whole career and like 7 rebounds. We should be drafting and signing for someone who will be good in two or three years not immendiately since our roster still has many gaps to fill. Do you guys agree?
After thinking about it Brandon Roy isn't that good for the Rockets. Yes he can help now but is he that big of an upgrade over David Wesley? He is listed at 6'5" but is truely 6'4" He does not shoot the ball great probably at the same accuacy as Wesley since he didn't even really shoot threes in college and never out to nba range. Plus he has decent handles and passing abilities but they are not great. To further that he does not have the attributes to be a future lockdown shooting guard defender so i do not think that we should be considering him.
lol i agree with the Brandon Roy thing. The more I think about it the more I see Josh Howard in ROnnie Brewer. Less offense and more defense. He can very well be our draft pick. Good news on the draft. Some of the big 6 are going to be taking a fall because supposedly Brandon roy has a gaurentee from Chicago #2 pick and Sheldon Williams has a guarentee from Atlanta and Randy Foye and Marcus Williams are in the mix to be drafted by boston and minnesota.
If you are right than this is what I predict will happen if no one is willing to deal with atlanta for their pick. Toronto: Lamarcus Aldridge Chicago: bradon Roy Charlotte: Adam Morrison Portland: Andrea Bargani Atlanta: Shelden Williams Minnesota: Marcus Williams Boston: Randy Foye Houston: Rudy Gay Tinyballer, can you provide a link to confirm. Thanks man
I want Bargani also, but Gay has so much upside and can develop at a much faster pace than Bargani can. look at Nowitzki's progress. First 3-4 seasons he was horrible and now hes amazing. Rudy Gay can contriobute right away and still has enough to be better.
Yah i think one or the other is going to fall to us i would be happy with either one of them. Andrea Bargnani would be good for becaue he could nail all our pf jumpers out to the three point line and he would get a lot of open one because of yao and t-mac so he would have an easier time then dirk. Gay would also have a similar job in the sg role but he can already drive and create for himself and ensure a third option
I'd be willing to draft anyone in the top 7(Aldridge, Bargani, Roy, Gay, Thomas, Williams, Morrison) EXCEPT tyrus Thomas and Brandon Roy. I am not high on those two guys at all. Brandon Roy is 6'5 and is short playing SG. Tyrus Thomas is cocky and has a bad attitude.
Umm Thomas's attitude could turnout to be like Amare Attitude where i am gonna go out there an prove you all wrong kinda thing or it could just be another mike james kinda thing
His offensive game is a liability and an attitude risk is not what I want. I want an athletic swingman
Rudy Gay and R.Carney were the top two guys that best suited the Rockets that I thought would be gone. I didn't have Foye or Roy ahead of either. If the Rockets have a pick of one or the other, they struck gold at 8 Does the relationship of Carney and TMac and the glaring need at 2 put Carney in the lead? I would say it does.
Umm know they say they are going to draft the best avaliable basketball player not the best avaliable T-mac's buddy. The only pick T-Mac was reli right about was Vince Carter so he bought his own ticket out of town. Ok now lets watch as JJ Redick plummet the draft boards. He firstly got drunk and was driving and got arrested that begin the character issues. Now people are saying he has major back problems that could lead him to be out for four mounth if the back requires surgery. Now i am not sure a lottery team would select a player with such risks but i am not even sure anymore if a lower first round team would maybe he has a bigger chance of falling to us in second now?
