Hmm .. well I thought I'd do it here so questions could be addressed faster.

What would you guys think, of an All-Time Rockets Draft?

We have contestants and judges (I would say the ones that do the previews?), and we have draft rounds. .

    <ul>
[*]Contestants are supposed to compile the best team, which will be judged by us. We'd have a DRAFT ONLY thread, and then another thread, where contestants give background on each of their draftees, stats, years played, positions, etc.

[*]Players must be Rockets for a certain period of time (I guess this could be thought of if y'all want to do it).

[*]The draftees can only play their true positions, but some jumping is allowed (Hakeem cannot run Point Guard, etc. but Clyde and T-mac can play the 2 and the 3, whatever suits their roster).

[*]A bench would be compiled as well, we might want to do rosters for 12, but that might be hard to keep up with, maybe a shorter list?

[*]No editing of draftees, all contestants are given a limited amount of time to choose a player, then the next person up goes, and the contestant skipped will have the last pick of the round.

[*]Picks should be FINALIZED VIA PM to a judge (THIS IS DEFINTIELY UP IN THE AIR), but it's up to the contestants to make sure the player hasn't been picked up (We could update the first post with Contestants and their players).

[*]Trading would be welcomed, but that, like the draftees, would be finalized.
    [/list]

That's just an idea, we could have awards, we have some pretty good sig makers on the Rocket Board (AXB, Locke, D-Mac as well..). Of course, this is just MY TAKE on it, y'alls input (of course if you guys would be up for doing it) would be appreciated.

Judge numbers and contestant numbers would be necessary too, it might be better that we keep the contestant number low, so that talent is spread out well.

    Thoughts?

Pretty good idea, definitely something we can do when playoffs roll around and we aren't in it (maybe, maybe not). It'll generate a lot of discussion and liveliness in the forum, so yeah, I'm all for it. My question with it is that when you draft the Rockets player, what if they haven't played on the Rockets for their entire career? Would you just count their averages as a player on the Rockets or their career averages?

I was thinking just ROCKET averages, but overall averages might work too. .

Plus, it educates outside Rocket members about who played for the rockets and all that.

Definitely could bring livliness to the forum after the Finals, DUH, you know we're going all the way.

    BELIEVE.

Lemme sleep on it. Sounds like a great idea and something JBB could do on a NBA-wide basis, but I dunno if we can run it in the Rockets forum.

It would be insanely huge if you put it into an NBA wide basis. Think of all the players in the entire league, then add about like 50 more players from history. Almost impossible to organize- just like the messed up offseason leagues they have.

How about we set up this competition during the playoffs (if we don't make it).

If we do make the playoffs, then I think the best time for this will be around August when free agency is basically over and there's not a lot of activity.

Yeah, that's cool. In fact, the later the better -- we can do some major tweaking to this and make it a new fad on JBB.

[gayvoice] OMGOSH.. I just cannot wait! [/gayvoice]

I feel as if it would be better run by the ROCKETS BOARD first, and then as the Mods see fit they can do it on a larger scale. .

Might wanna get this down with shapecity or Hunter. . either or both could be good judges too.

    Good day.

I was wondering if we should start working on this? If we can get a good list of judges, we can do some major tweaking. We might want to wait till the playoffs are over, just because the content produced might be of higher quality.

BTW, I lost the bet guys. . so your Avy/Sig/User Title pwnage can begin.

Yeah, Locke, you want to run this buy the team leaders or whatever? Its a great idea in theory and can probably bring some excitement a long with the JBB Mock league. By the way, I'm probably going to be missing in action for some of June and most of July.

I don't know man. It's a great idea and all but I guess you'd have to run this Mag. I'll be working full-time this summer...

And as for judges, if I may, Hunter and durvasa would be great judges IMO. shapecity as well, but for it to be effective, it'll have to be someone who is a Rockets fan or know a lot about the NBA's history in general.
