If he doesn't play 25+ minutes every single night until the playoffs something is drastically wrong. I was totally shocked to see him play only 13 minutes last game, especially since he totally outplays everyone else in our backcourt. Hopefully tonights effort will get him a bit of love from Mr. Fratello.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">Why the hell is Dahntay Jones starting over him with Eddie Jones out of the lineup?</div> Apparently Mike has to run the second unit, no matter how many players are injured.
his career's a bit like gasol's because he was named ROY but after that year he's never received the recognition he deserves. He's a great shooter and a good athlete but a lot of people don't notice it. He should be starting, no doubt.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J-Calderon_8:</div><div class="quote_post">He should be starting, no doubt.</div> He's in a catch 22 situation with that. He plays like rubbish and Fratello says he doesn't deserve to start. He dominates and Fratello says that proves his best form is when off the bench.
The more I think about it, I don't really care if he starts or not. That's just a meaningless title like being named the Rookie of the Year, an All-Star, or something to that affect. It's an honor, but it won't actually elevate your game. I do think that he needs to get more playing time though, especially in the late stages of the game, whether he starts or not. He's more than proven that he's a reliable second option on offense.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post"> I do think that he needs to get more playing time though.</div> If he were starting he'd be getting more court time. Quite often he doesn't check into games until there is 3 minutes left in the opening quarter. I don't think that's good enough given his talent and performances.

Eddie Jones is going to steal some playing time from him regardless, so I'd actually rather that it'd be at the start of the game than when it really matters in crunch time.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">That's not really true. </div> Of course it's true. If a player starts the game, he has more opportunity for minutes than a guy who enters the game with 9 minutes gone. Whether he gets those minutes is another thing, but in general the premise is correct.

Eddie Jones will always be there stealing minutes from him whether he starts or comes in off the bench, so I don't really see why giving him the "starting" job is that important.
