<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SEATTLE (AP) -- The Seattle SuperSonics signed former first-round draft pick Marcus Fizer to a 10-day contract Wednesday.

Fizer, a 6-foot-8 forward, had been playing with the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League, averaging 20.4 points and 7.6 rebounds. He was fourth in the league in scoring, eighth in rebounding and was playing 34 minutes per game.

Fizer was the No. 4 overall selection in the 2000 draft by the Chicago Bulls, and played five seasons with Chicago and Milwaukee. Last season with the Bucks, Fizer played in 54 games and averaged 6.2 points and 3.2 rebounds.

Fizer was signed after forward Nick Collison partially tore the plantar fascia in his left foot in Sunday night's win over Utah. Collison is expected to miss at least four weeks.</div>

This is a good signing. Fizer is talented enough to make a big impact, just never seemed to put it together. Let's see what he has had a chance to work on.

Not real thrilled about this news. I thought between Wilcox and Felix we'd be alright at the 4, and maybe even play Swift and Petro together for awhile.

Never been a Fizer fan - always seemed like a tweener to me and IIRC he's not a big character guy either.

OTOH, it probably doesn't matter a whole lot in the scheme of things.

Yeah, I thought that Wilcox and Felix were going to be alright at the 4 as well. Maybe they got him just for insurance....

Not that this matters, but if I remember correctly, Fizer was called for a flagrant foul on AD 2 years back. He seems like a dirty player...

One of the bigger draft busts in recent history. He barely finished out his rookie contract at the fourth overall pick in the 2000 draft.

He does have some character issues, but at this stage in his career I feel like he'd do anything possible to latch back on to an NBA team. If he was just interested in the money I'm sure that he would have been able to get a big money deal over in Europe, but instead he remains focus on trying to showcase his abilities in the states under the watchful eyes of NBA personnel.

Honestly I don't expect him to make a big impact but it is always good to have some bulky insurance underneath just in case Felix and Moore get overmatched by a physical power forward.

I don't mind Fizer, but it shows there isn't full faith in the kids just yet.

Given your position it should be an opportunity to play Petro and Swift more, not fill gaps.

Marcus Fizer, what a joke. Same with the 2000 draft... horrible horrible draft.

10-day contract doesn't bother me though.

Dude always had talent, but he never seemed to positively affect a team. He's like a poor man's Shareef.
