Pistons coach Flip Saunders said former Timberwolves shooting guard Fred Hoiberg would be visiting the Pistons Tuesday and today, discussing his possible return to the NBA. Hoiberg has been out all season, recovering from open-heart surgery in June 2005 to repair his aortic root. If he returns, he would be the first active NBA player with a pacemaker. Hoiberg played for Saunders in Minnesota from 2003-05, and the two developed a close relationship.
A good pickup but, correct me if I'm wrong, aren't the Pistons already one of the best 3pt shooting teams in the league? If so, I don't think he'll make as big an impact seeing since that's his strength. Ofcourse that's assuming he plays a significant role in the playoffs (more than 7mpg) and is just not someone to round out the roster.
He hasnt signed yet. Hopefully he wont either, a guy with heart problems who has never really proven anything doesnt sit well with me.

But I don't see as to how anyone wouldn't want him on their team even if the Pistons are already good from 3 land.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NTC187:</div><div class="quote_post">Well why would we want him? There are better, healthier free agents in the pool other than him.</div> Actually no there isn't Hoiberg is a great shooter, good defender, hussler and is very steady but at the same time I don't think there is any room for him in Detroit. The Pistons would have to cut somebody and I don't think Dumars is willing to do that.

Im not clear on this, really Anser this for me someone:, so, a team can sign someone even this late after the trade deadline? I know Delk was signed after, but, they can sign someone all the way up until the playoffs start?
No there is a deadline just before the playoffs, for when teams playoff rosters are anounced. Hoiberg seems set to go to Phoenix after the Pistons chose not to sign him.

He's never been recognized as one, let alone recognized as a good roleplayer.
