<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Just making playoffs could be trouble for Lakers If there was one thing for the Lakers to take away from Monday night's game, after watching the San Antonio Spurs bury one 3-pointer after another, it was that making the playoffs as the eighth seed comes at a price. The Lakers haven't beaten the Spurs in seven regular-season games since Shaquille O'Neal was traded, and Monday was no different as San Antonio turned it up in the third quarter of a 103-96 victory at Staples Center. It was significant because the Lakers and Spurs would meet in the first round if the playoffs started today. And if Michael Finley and Manu Ginobili are shooting like they were Monday, the Lakers could be looking at a quick exit. Ginobili hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter and Finley hit four in the fourth as the Spurs made 10 of 14 3s in the second half and improved to 47-12 with their seventh straight win. "We'll see if Friday night they can shoot at the same level with the 3-point shots," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said of the rematch in San Antonio. -- Los Angeles Daily News </div> link: http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/14044065.htm
I'd rather the Lakers make the playoffs and get swept, than find themselves in the lottery again. You always play to win games, gain experience, and then try to build off that success. The more the Lakers can play the Spurs the more they will learn about their opponent and try designing strategies to beat them in the future.
Well, thats a silly article. Im sure all lakers fans would be content with just making the playoffs. Im also sure the Lakers dont have a chance against the Spurs in the playoffs, as im sure everybody knows. For LA making the playoffs and being swept would be a success. So is this writer trying to say the Lakers are competative with top teams? If so then
The Lakers should have won that game but finley and ginobili went off. Id love to face mavericks in the first round.
