So much easier when our team is rebounding and shooting well from the field. But it's Bobcats we're talking here. Plus, what about our defense? Yuck. Now Barnett is making comments about why don't we push the ball in the 4th? I wish we could push the ball if there's energy, but nobody is making the counter argument if these guys even have enough legs to finish well in the 4th quarter of a 2nd night on a back to back road game. These guys may be tired so they need to be under control and play the D. Plus, it's about shot selection and defense to close out. We don't do that enough. We got guys like Murphy and Fish who do a lousy job of that playing PF/C or pg/sg. Either position you put those guys in they will get torched at times or torch us by not moving the ball inside and out.
Great, the alternative to Murphy's effort on D is Dunleavy... this is upsetting. Ike gets played at center and gets replaced with Biedrins finally... Ellis comes in for Dfish (who has been sucking). I wish we could go for Biedrins Ike Jrich Ellis Baron for 4th quarter lineups. But damn there goes our free throw %. Too many damn flaws... it'll make your head spin, but at least we could get some better D and some quickness into the lineup.
Wow, just got home and we are up 1 with 3 minutes remaining. Looks like J-Rich and Ike are having good nights from looking at the box score. Murphy has good numbers but terrible FG%. Baron is doing ok.
I have to admit I am a sick, sick person. I keep watching Warriors and hurting myself... Can't win against Hawks or Bobcats... One thing is for sure, they are working very hard to break fans' heart with any possible ways and improve draft choice. Another excellent game from Richardson, and Ellis played well. But at the end of the game, we managed to blow another game...
I would like to say that the Warriors are finding new ways to lose games but I be lying. Outside shoots are great if they are falling but for pete's sake drive the ball inside at the least you will get the other team in foul trouble and get yourself to the line often. At the best we get the basket plus one. I know we suck at freethrows but at least it beats the alternative of just shooting 3point shots. Anyway I am officially resigned to going to the lottery for a 12 consecutive time.
Warriors don't have very many good ballhandlers outside of Baron Davis, Dunleavy, Ellis, and Fisher. Of those three, you probably don't want two of them on the court because of some deficiencies or liabilities. Plus, of those ballhandlers, Baron is the best of them that can finish inside, but also a lot of times he doesn't finish because there's no play there. All the other team has to do is pack it in the middle and dare these guys to take it inside through a set defense or shoot from the outside. These Warriors should have run this game because they didn't have much protecting the middle, but clearly the Warriors were tired and weren't going to do much when only one guy was hot from the field and only one guy can run the center of the break. So many guys just can't play defense or shoot the outside shot when they're open or pass the ball cleanly when somebody else is in a better position to score. I swear sometimes I get so mad at this team and its lack of capabilities that I just want to blow it up and start all over. On this team only the rookies, Baron, Jrich are worth holding onto. I could care less about the other soft, slow, one-dimensional or unproductive players on this team. And if there are guys that aren't running the plays or playing the D, they need to go too. Good teams actually play the D and they play as a team rather than sit around doing nothing when they don't have the ball.
we can't finish games..our 4th quarters are just as bad as our stretch during this losing streak. It doesn't matter how hard u play and what u do just as long as u finish hard..the warriors never seem to do that.
The Warriors play great when there is no pressure in the first 3 quarters. Also, during that time, Monty feels comfortable enough to make any substitution if it's necessary. But he always re-inserts Derek Fisher in the game during the final few minutes of the 4th, and that's a mistake. Monta Ellis played great tonight and he should have been in there to close out the game. But, back to the whole team, they play fine when it's all loosy goosy in the first 3 quarters, but come the 4th quarter, when they need to be acountable for their identity, when their weaknesses are magnified and on center stage, they have trouble. It seems their MO has been to go to JRich down the stretch, and I am fine with that. But they better figure out whether Baron should be the leader in the 4th, and if that's the case, he needs to drive to the hole. Easier said than done, granted, especially against a zone. But if he's your answer then that is what he must do; it's what he does best, and the alternative -- out-side jumpers - are not desireable. If I were coach, I'd give Monta Ellis the feeling that we have the utmost confidence in him, so he doesn't have to play with one eye on the bench. Then, once he has full confidence, I'd start calling his number like crazy. Then, when he starts scoring 20+ a night, I'd make him the go-to guy.
