We need to trade big al, I love him, but Gomes is the future and the future is now, we might be able to package him with lafrentz and the kandi man and possibly get a truly legit center, perk and jefferson were good until gomes emerged but think about the possibilities if we trade these guys - PG: Delonte West SG: Paul Peirce SF: Wallly PF: Ryan Gomes C: Legitimate guy who's not Lafrentz that sounds ridiculous, will contend for nba championship in two years, undoubtedly.
Well, for starters, we can't trade Kandi because he'll be a FA after the season. Now, the real question is what kind of player can you get for a Jefferson/LaFrentz package? In my opinion, not enough. I'd rather let Jefferson learn how to play without fouling, and then he can easily be a 20/10 guy in two years. Sure, we'd have an undersized lineup with Gomes and Jefferson in the frontcourt, but these are two guys that play much bigger than they actually are. However, why don't you head over to the trade machine and propose some trades to see what we're working with?
I was thinking the same thing... <div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheGreatK-Bob:</div><div class="quote_post">We need to trade big al, I love him, but Gomes is the future and the future is now, we might be able to package him with lafrentz and the kandi man and possibly get a truly legit center, perk and jefferson were good until gomes emerged but think about the possibilities if we trade these guys - PG: Delonte West SG: Paul Peirce SF: Wallly PF: Ryan Gomes C: Legitimate guy who's not Lafrentz that sounds ridiculous, will contend for nba championship in two years, undoubtedly.</div> I was thinking the same thing because Al has been making some serious rookie mistakes recently, and because Gomes is so polished. I stopped and reconsidered after imagining the furor it would cause, and the indefensibility of it. What's the point of trading Al and Raef for some random player to go at the center? If you have a good team with all those players, what good does it do to try and trade LaFrentz to get under the cap? If we do get under the cap, and have that team, we've traded away a top scoring talent for maybe three seasons of this current team. There's no way that's what Ainge has planned. Not to mention that Pierce is going to be a free agent after next season. It's too much risk to let Jefferson go, and then have the whole team collapse when Pierce leaves, too. Also, in east, Al can play a four. He has the physical ability and strength to do so. Once his ankle is healed, he will elevate fast enough to become a shot blocker. He was already well on his way before. If only we could get rid of those dumb fouls... I also agree that Gomes is playing great ball, but I don't think he'll maintain his current pace. He could be a 16/10 guy, but so could Al. In short, discretion rules out here, we have to keep Al.

I think Perkins could develope to become better than Magloire or Camby. Even if he doesnt i dont see why NOW is the time to just give up on him AND jefferson just because Gomes is having a great month. I love Gomes too but I STILL say that Perkins and Jefferson are our 4 and 5 of the future. I dont see why Gomes cant be a 3. I mean imagine having 3 guys who can rebound and score in the post like Gomes, Perk and Al! couple that with Delonte and Pierce and youve got a SICK starting 5. The problem than becomes if those guys are ALL as good as they ccan be than how can you afford to pay them. I'll tell you this, It's a good thing that I'm not the general manager because if I was I'd sign Perk, Al, Delonte and Gomes to 5 or 6 year contracts right now. Id only offer them a little more than what Scal is making but they're young! they havent really made names for themselves in the league yet so they'd be obliged to take it just for the job security!
