NEVER EVER trade a star for 2 or more role players. For example, we traded Francis, Mobley, and Cato for McGrady, Howard, and Lue<?>. The first year the Magic traded Mobley for Doug and he retired due to injury. Francis wanted out and who the hell cares about Cato. For T-Mac all Orlando ended up with was Trevor Ariza.

L.A. traded Shaq for 3 role players...Brian Grant was released (if I remember correctly), and all they got for Shaq in the end was Odom.

My point. When you are dealing stars, you look at the difference between the two. If other players are involved in the trade, hopefully they can just be icing on the cake. If you trade a star, you better end up with a star that is as good, or a star that is almost as good but fits your team better. That way you can milk out the worth of that star and keep that worth for years to come.

    Get it?
    </div>

And the C-Webb deal to PHI who sent 3 role players to the Kings, and the VC to Nets who sent 3 role players to the Raptors...

Don't send a superstar if you are not going to get a superstar, it's a GM's rule... but they were not listening...

I was not advocating a trade for a bunch of scrubs, since we already have a team filled with them. But if we could trade Mcgrady for a proven second option and a few good quality role players, than I woud be more than happy to part with Mcgardy.

The Shaq trade was different. You cannot compare a T-Mac trade to a Shaq trade. Shaq has proven he can win championships, while Mcgrady has not. Also, someone like Shaq is harder to replace than a perimeter shooter, which is basically what Mcgrady has become.

The C-Web trade is a little more comparable. Chris Webber was a great player until injuries slowed him down, just like what might be happening to T-Mac. He is still good, but not as good as he once was. I don't fault the Kings for trading Webber. He was showing his age, and that make-up of the team had proven it could not get into the Finals. And Webber did not exactly turned the Sixers into contenders. It's arguable whether the Sixers got the better end of the deal. They got a name, but the Sixers are still a losing team.

If the Sixers wanted Mcgardy, trade him for AI2, Korver, and Dalembert. It would solve a lot of problems for this team. Play Dalembert as a shotblocking PF, Korver would strectch defense with his 3 pt shooting, and I believe AI2 can develop into a legitimate 2nd option. Plus, they are all younger and less injury-prone.

As for the VC trade. What did you expect the Raptors to do? They were not exactly taking the league by storm with VC. Something people don't seem to understand is that if something does not work for a long period of time, it might be a good idea to take a chance and make a change. I don't think the Raptors would be a better team with VC. It is not fair to say Nets got the better end of the trade because they are doing well this season, but you have to think how bad were Toronto even with Toronto. I thought the Raptors got a pretty good deal. They got a couple of scrubs, but they also got Alonzo Mourning (who is playing great but refused to play for Toronto) and two first round picks. The Raptors have a very good looking future considering their crop of young players and draft picks.

Anyway, like I said before, I hope Mcgrady does regain his former form. I just have doubts whether he can. Because he rarely drives to the basket and his low shooting percentage, Mcgrady needs to take a bucketload of shots to get his points. Even in the All-Satr game, he was taking mainly long jumpshots.

And people have to stop saying Mcgrady singlehandely carried the Rockets last season. Basketball is a TEAM game, and not one player can win a game, unless they score 81 points to bring his team back from a deficeit. Though Mcgrady did win the Spurs game last season. With the team's performance wiothout the big two I have realized that our surrounding team is horrible. Definitely not as good as last year's supporting cast. Trading one of our only asssets, we might actually be able to improve the makeup of the team. We might be able to get some salary-cap relief also. If you look at all the top-tiered teams in the league you'll see that they all have a good TEAM.

Niether The 76ers or Houston would do that trade. We would only want Korver if we had T-Mac and Yao on the floor. AI2 is good, and Dalembert is okay.

All this team needs is a Korver/Redd player that can hit open 3s.

edit, but damn Philly would have a starting line up of T-Mac, AI, Webber. BUT they all want the ball in their hands so it sounds good on paper yadayadaya...you get the point

Yeah I also think that this is a bunch of crap. When T-Mac was healthy last year he was fourth in the league in minutes played. FOURTH. what can you say about his dedication now? He carried us last year and forced our team to play better. Then everyone was saying how awesome he was and now the same people are questioning his attitude. This is the last thing he needs, his biggest fans turning on him.

I know he'll be back with a vengance next year because he'll have something to prove. he never got to do that this year because he was injured from the strat of the year. I know we'll be better next year.

Ok nobody can really question his dedication since only he knows. But it's obvious he can't play with a bad back right? We can agree that: He has driven to the rim much less and settled for jumpers and 3's for most of every game? His bad back of both preventing it or experiencing it during games has obviously affected his explosiveness to the game. He hasn't been explosive durign the season anymore. He has been during all star games and playoffs but not during the season like during his younger orlando days.
So I can conclude that tmac is affected by his back for many years now and his game is obviously affected. I am a fan of tmac but i can't deny the fact that he has chronic back pains and it will affect him for the rest of his career. He has changed his game style and this style of jumpers won't win games. Basically from the injury and performances he has alone, is he really worth keeping for the rest of his career or should we trade him while he has some worth still? I wont trade him for role players but i would trade him for A.I or Kobe which won't happen

I'm sick of how everyone keeps criticizing McGrady's dedication when they have zero idea what he's going through physically and emotionally.</div>

Ben Wallace lost his mother and then his brother. Kevin Garnett lost one of his best friend and team mate by the name of Malik Sealy. I have read some sad stories about NBA players losing their love ones but how can you expect me to remember all those. You're treating my opinion very personal man. You heard it before like what Vince Carter had admitted that sometimes he did'nt try his best playing for Toronto and then the following year TMac also admitted the same thing when playing for Orlando. For your information I'm not a TMac hater it's just sometimes you find some things to criticize about him. I'm glad for what he has done for the Rockets and for giving the team a chance to be contenders.

I think McGrady is just in a little slump right now. Injury, personal problems. But as long he is on the court he is a major threat. Yao at the moment is playing well and that is a good sign. I don't think the Rockets will make the playoffs this year. But I think if McGrady stays healthy the Rockets can be a major threat.

9 years in the league and with the mindset of 'i'm getting old' instead of 'i'm a seasoned vet and playin my prime with the deserved amount i'm earning' i can criticize him all i want too. SHaq never blamed his weight or his toes for his bad patch. All he did was keep fighting and dominating even at his old 30+ age

Exactly!!!!You know I've never questioned T-Macs skill or ability, but I will and do wonder about his dedication and heart. No statistic or average can show you a players heart, only his actions.

So in the world of sports, not being affected by the loss of loved ones is called "heart"?

Everyone has a different opinion of what"heart" is but you know it when someone has it, just as it is clear when they may not. I don't question his heart just on one incident but on his career.

What is your definition of "Heart"?

Well since I questioned T-Mac's Heart and some people don't agree,I was curious to what some of yall's definition of "Heart" is and what player you feel fits your description.

I define "heart" as a player's willingness to overcome obstacles for sheer love of the game. "Heart" is when a player simply loves to play and will do anything to get on the floor in top condition.

With that being said I think T-Mac has heart. There's a line between bravery and stupidity; and I think that T-Mac coming into play injured would be stepping across it.

Why make a seperate thread to talk about something that was already the topic of another thread?
